U.S. warned about Russia's Kaspersky software
(That said, I'd trust this over McAfee)

It's sad about the current politics because Kaspersky is one of the best in the industry. ESET is the way to go if you're worried about Kaspersky being Russian software (I would avoid it, personally). That said, Windows Defender is a lot better these days and it could be argued that a lot of people don't need to buy security software for the time being (combined with something like Malwarebytes Free, or even the free ESET scanner). You'll go far just by using Ublock Origin and noscript/notscript in your browser, using common sense and caution about browsing shady sites and even just checking virustotal to put some more eyes on that program you've read about but haven't tried.

So you trust communist Russia more than Democratic countries. Here is another example of having it too good in the US and saying dumb things. In Russia you will be wiped off of this earth and no one would ever know what happened to you.

Kaspersky's been banned from Federal systems since Sept. 2017 (the last administration). This was done under the direction of Homeland Security.

As required by the Secure and Trusted Communications Network Act of 2019, the FCC in 2022 added Kaspersky to the list of venders "that are deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to the national security of the United States or the security and safety of United States persons."
