In case you are holding out for the 18" for $249; I did get the 18" 2 weeks ago, and it's harder to handle than the 16" (I have both). I still would keep the 18" for occasional use but 16" is definitely the go-to.

I borrowed a family member's Stihl chainsaw and it was practically brand new. I had the hardest time consistently getting it to start. If it was mine I would've thrown it in the creek, it was that much of a pain in the back-side. The owner couldn't even get it started but strangely enough another family member could get it started in 3-5 pulls pretty consistently. Needles to say I want going to call him every time I needed it started so when one of these went on sale a couple years ago I picked it up with no hesitation.

The gas Stihl chainsaw has significantly more power and is faster to get up to speed to start making cuts. It also cuts wood faster.
With that said, the Ego starts every time I squeeze the trigger. No messing with the choke, pulling 10-15 times, adjusting the choke, pulling again... Nope. I'm done with that.
I'm not cutting down trees for a living so this Ego chainsaw is good enough for me for the few trees and branches I cut every year.
IMO for this chainsaw
Power: Ego < Gas
Ease of use: Ego > Gas

I bought the 16" before I saw that. Wondering if I should change my order.

Nope, never apologize for less length. it's not the length that counts, it's how you use the tool. words to live by!

having said that, I still bought the 18 in saw. 😀

This is worth it just for the battery. I have the 18 inch and it's been great. I don't have much to cut anymore but I've never run out of battery. I wish I could have gotten it for $250.

How do these compare to a gas chainsaw like a Husqvarna?

I'm really having difficulty deciding on which electric tools to go with. Ive got a couple of acres with a lot of neglected tree growth, so I've got quite a bit of work to do. I mainly need weed trimmer, pole saw, and chainsaw. I was going to go the ego route, but their trimmer and pole saw cost quite a bit and put me over budget. I've been thinking of going with the harbor freight atlas line, but I'm wondering if I'll be dossapointed. Can't find a lot of direct comparisons.

this was posted about 3 weeks ago on another thread and I bought the 16" because I want to get an extra battery for when I get the 765 blower.

Came from Amazon direct brand new - but the manufacture date of MARCH 2022 - a year ago. Battery still has 2 bars
