Auto drip-stop brew-basket with glass carafe.
Brew-volume selector switch for brewing half or full carafes
Fast brewing time: Simple to use with a quiet brew process, the KBGV Select makes a half or full carafe of coffee in 4-6 minutes.
Consistent temperature: The copper boiling element rapidly heats water to a brewing temperature of 196°F - 205°F and automatically shuts off when the water reservoir is empty.
The pre-immersion drip-style system ensures the perfect coffee bloom, produced by an ultra-precise, natural pulse action.
Made with durable metal housings and BPA/BPS/BPF and phthalate-free plastics.
All Moccamaster coffee brewers are handmade at the Technivorm factory in the Netherlands. We build our coffee brewers to last. Replacement parts are available for all models, and our on-site service technicians will repair any Moccamaster for the life of the brewer. With proper care and maintenance, this should be the last coffee brewer you ever need to buy.
Precise engineering: The boiling action moves the water up the glass tube, where it flows into the outlet arm and pulses over the brew basket, blooming the coffee grounds in a manual pour-over style.
Optimized coffee extraction: The cone-shaped brew basket steeps the coffee grounds, extracting the coffee's full flavor and maximizing its complexity, taste, and aroma.
Independent hotplate: The selector switch adjusts the hotplate temperature within the range of 175°F - 185°F depending on how much you brew. The brewer's power switch and hotplate automatically shut off after 100 minutes.
Body style: Rectangular
Certifications: ECBC certified and SCA approved to meet and exceed the golden cup standard.
Volts: 120 V
The selector switch on the KBGV Select allows you to choose between brewing a half or full carafe. The brewing speed and hotplate temperature adjust according to your choice, brewing either amount to the golden cup standard. The brew basket automatically stops the flow of coffee when removing the carafe. All glass carafe brewers feature a hotplate with an independent heating element that holds your coffee at the perfect temperature.

For those that don't know this is an S-tier automatic pour over brewer that should last many years hence the price.

If you can't taste the difference between different coffees or brewing methods this isn't for you.

If you're looking to step up the home setup and you want a buy-it-for-life level brewer and you can appreciate coffee, this is a machine to consider. It may be the best machine of its kind
This isn't my experience. I have 2 machines over the course of 20 years (thermal carafe and glass warming plate versions), and the plastic parts have never deteriorated. Maybe if put in a dishwasher under very hot water temps that'll happen, which is not recommended. But I wouldn't hesitate to buy another when needed.

While that is definitely true, I would argue that a good $50-75 set-up of pour-over with a goose-neck kettle, a scale, a Bodum pour-over can make a coffee that 95% of drinkers won't be able to tell a difference with expensive coffee makers. Add a bit more, and for about $100, you can get a ChemEx set-up. Besides that type of set-up is customizable in terms of ratios, techniques, is arguably easier to clean, occupies less space and also looks great! What matters more for good coffee is good beans, time of use from roasting, a good grinder and brewing coffee right after the grinding.

Isn't using a warming plate instead of an insulated carafe a no no? Perhaps this is gentle enough not to change the taste of the coffee but this seems very 1970s with the coffee boiling all day on the warmer…

After years of using a spice grinder and french press setup, I settled on a refurbished Ode "Brew" grinder and a Mocca Master "Select."

The Mocca Master is an incredible appliance. I like that is is hand built in the Netherlands.

My only complaint is that I have to stir the grounds upon the first 15 seconds of brewing as the drip arm will not sufficiently cover the entire brew basket. Another option is to leave the pot off the plate and only run about 15 seconds of water to allow the coffee to bloom.

The issue then is that if I am not careful setting the pot back under the basket, coffee will spill out from the lid and into the hot plate.

If I do not do this then there will dry grounds at the end of a full pot brew. It is mildly annoying but a worthy trade off for some of the best drip coffee I have ever had. My french press has been unused since I got my Mocca Master.

A good "grind and brew" coffee from a gas station costs around 2-4$.
A nice Oxo or other brand coffee mug costs ~20$

Since brewing all my own coffee in the morning I know that the MM has payed for itself in 6 months.

Not only is this thing an incredible retro piece that is handmade in a non chinese factory but it also produces great tasting coffee.

I use Bun filters rather than their own brand.

There are brew baskets that have selectable drip valves.

The heating element is on a 1 hour timer. It will turn itself off.

Love mine, got it from a local Amazon bulk reseller in new condition for less than half this. It was hard to swallow the $300 price so it took a bit of 3rd party searching to find the deal I wanted.

The black plastic parts do not last. They become brittle enough to break easily and are very expensive to replace for what they are. ex) the lid for the basket is $15+tax when it's 10c worth of materials. I had one machine where the water reservoir was damaged from steam. They wanted $50 just to ship the machine back to them for warranty consideration. (they required the whole machine).

While I am still using 1 of the 2 I have (and enjoy it)...I wouldn't buy another.

Note* I have the thermal carafe versions...not this exact one...but they have the same materials in the parts mentioned.

My work break room has an $800 Bunn drip coffee maker, but like this Moccamaster, does not allow you to adjust temperature. Coworkers were commenting that the coffee was bitter, but when you brew dark roasts at the machine's fixed temp of 200 F, it's to be expected.

Manually brewing filter coffee with an adjustable temp kettle and a pourover/Aeropress/immersion brewer is not difficult, much easier to clean, and actually lets you brew coffees at their ideal temperatures.

I have a Moccamaster and a pour over setup like you describe and nearly always use the Moccamaster. Convenience wins here for me.

I've had mine for 7 years now and we've used it everyday without issue.

This is a pretty good price. I have both the glass and stainless steel carafe versions, and much prefer the glass (this deal). The steel carafe was next to impossible to clean and didn't keep the coffee warm for long. The glass carafe coffee stayed hot and even after an hour was good.

I also avoid French press style coffee makers that don't use paper filters. The unfiltered oil from coffee beans is known to contribute to cholesterol levels.

After having both types I far prefer the warming plate design. The insulated carafe's that come with the coffeemakers typically have a lid that allows coffee in and heat out. I far prefer to have my own insulated carafe with a properly sealing lid. I simply pour the fresh coffee into it after brewing; the coffee should never be just left on a hot plate, and as pointed out the Moccamaster turns off after an hour it not used.
