Not sure what chipset this uses, but seems to have good reviews on amazon.

It should.
Typically used for upgrading storage and in lieu of carrying around a larger portable hard drive or slower flash drive. It should work fine for storing games.

I like the version with SATA and NVME so I don't I have to remember which enclosure is which. I tried to do it by color but that failed quickly when I acquired all 4 colors.
Drives I use are crucial p5 and samsung Pro 990. Bought them for a new build, but since I am still shopping for a graphic card, I am using the drives as usb. Have written around 10 gb each. I haven't had any issues.
