I am a part time woodworker, my work is featured in a few local stores for my lawn furniture and wooden garden accessories. This saw is more than adequate, especially if you build an outfeed table around it. This is a great price.
Here is the outfeed table. I rip 4x8 sheet goods fairly often with no issue.

I'm only a DIY weekend warrior. Most of my tool collection is Dewalt and I know they are quality tools, and Skil is a step down. Still trying to decide. Anyone contemplating these 2 saws?
ps. I lot of pro woodworkers use table saw exclusively (Foureyes Furniture on YT, for example). They make miter cuts with dedicated sled or miter gauge on the table saw. Again, they can get away with using miter gauge to cut odd angles because they use large cabinet saw. I have the same Incra miter gauge as Chris from Foureyes. However, I can barely cut 3" stock because once my miter gauge fence is on my table saw, that's how much space I have between it and my blade. Whereas Chris' Saw Stop cabinet saw has at least 16" cross cut space.
Cross-cut sled is a must for any table saw. But if you are using a contractor table saw, you need to know its limits.
However, there is one big caveat that I encountered: the "table" surface of the saw has some issues. 1) it is not perpendicular (90 degrees) to the blade.
2) it is not flat
You can fix both of those issues with adjusting the saw angle in the case of 1, and building a sled in the case of 2. However, because this saw only accepts smaller blades, you may find that having a sled decreases the amount of cutting capacity too much (because you're basically putting another surface on top of the existing surface, which means that the amount of the saw blade you can use is less, since you have to now start from the top of your second surface).

It is not a true dado set, but it works with my Dewalt 745 just fine with stock throat plate. I bought it to cut box joints but it can also makes 1/4" and 3/8" dados.
This was such a helpful and non-condemning post. More posts like this would grow the community. Thanks!!

I was looking at the same. I'm just a weekend warrior but also looking for a table saw. If you need a dado set then Skil seems better. If you need a smaller but dependable workhorse with limited capabilities, then it seems this DEWALT is better.
FWIW, I was looking at the Skil SPT99T-01 which seems to have it all. More expensive but the worm drive has such high torque that people seem very happy with it.

My current old table saw is an old Skilsaw, super basic, the fence is crap, but the thing has done so many DIY jobs for me and friends/family that it owes me nothing. I put a Diablo blade on it years back and the kerf is thin so it chatters some, but its done every job I've ever thrown at it. I actually feel bad replacing it, but I want a nicer more accurate fence. So while the Skil brand isn't as quality as Dewalt, this old school one I have has stood the test of time.
Did you choose or are you still shopping?
