Same here. I use #2 bits all the time, and most are... well, they suck. I bought some bits with some features that supposedly gave them better grip. I am not here to extol their claims and virtues. If there were a "golden yawn" award, I would be giving it left and right.

For new construction, I almost always choose T25 screws. Yes, they are more expensive. But we only have so many revolutions around the sun before we have to move on.

For really old construction Philips strip even quicker since lumber is much harder than new pine but screws tend to split wood more often than nails so for some cases I would choose nails over screws.

Nails are often stronger than screws, so if it's structural, you should usually be using nails anyways.

But if you're tackling Philips head screws in some capacity, these bits are the gold standard. Convenient 2" length and Makita Gold is often the choice of contractors for better longevity.
