You are not reading my post. A dispute is just that a very risky and chancy after the fact effort that may not be approved. I prefer a given on the front end that when my order is placed that the reward is recognized and will be issued. The Dell site DEFINITELY stated the card was not recognized and approved for Dell's reward program. I didn't take a screen shot of it. Amex DEFINITELY stated that the reward would not go through if disputed when shipped as I posed that very question to them. This was not my first and only attempt to use Amex rewards as I have used them many times in the past. $120 is not an amount on a $944 purchase to risk not being received. This had nothing to do with being impatient but everything to do with insuring the Amex reward was recognized, redeemed and received.
I think you are mistaken between the rewards programs, because i saw the message as well when i was ordering. There is Dell rewards, which is what Dell gives you in Dell money for future purchases. The other one is Amex rewards points, which Dell allows for direct redemption toward your purchase. The message that said your card wasn't recognized for reward program is from Dells website stating that your Amex card does not qualify for Amex reward points redemption because only a couple Amex cards have Amex reward points. There is no such thing as a specific credit card does not qualify for Dell rewards. Dell rewards is just a free reward program that you need to sign up, gives back up to 6-7% in Dell money, and every card qualifies, in fact you dont even need to use credit card to qualify for dell rewards, you can use debit card or Dell gift cards. I think your confusion of that message probably confused the Dell CSR as well and they just fibbed their answer to whatever you wanted to hear.

should have asked on this thread before the impulsive cancelation and wasting time with 6 phone calls 🤔

DON'T YOU READ???? No confusion at all. My rewards experience is not like yours. Both Dell and Amex stated the rewards did not go through.period. As stated earlier vvhen Dell themselves tried to duplicate my order they (DELL) agreed that it did not process and as mentioned earlier they were stymied. And Amex confirmed it clearly saying that if I waited until they shipped it the reward would not be processed. Nothing in this post would have helped just as your rather lengthy and repetitious dialogue has not helped and is off track to the specific issue I experienced with Dell.

So I've been using my current computer for 8 years. I7-6700, GTX 970. It's still working fine but I told myself if I found a killer deal I would upgrade. Not a gamer, just wanted some improvements for photo editing and general productivity work so I wanted a really good processor and a decent gpu which has been hard to find at a good price point. I used the Amex deal on top of this and it seems like this was the deal I've been looking for. I upped the ram to 16x2, knowing it's more expensive to use dell ram but my understanding is that dell does some shenanigans to make it's ram run better than aftermarket. I guess I'm just looking for confirmation this was a super good deal worth upgrading now and not waiting.

You are so right - we do deserve each other as Dell came through with an apology and my final price is $744 with one more $50 discount pending.

how much do you think i could sell this video card for privately? $2-300?
looks like a couple cashback sites up to 12/13%....if i use a coupon code, think they will deny the cb?.......could get this system OR the 12th gen XPS for $799 without video card...I guess if I can sell the video card, this one makes more sense in terms of future proof? Plan to move my current i7-8700 XPS to be Blueiris server and make the new one the replacement..
