Some of the features you can see and others you'd have to look up on the companies' websites. There may be advantages to the MSI that I'm missing, and I had every intent to buy an MSI board for this upgrade because they seem to be the best overall choice nowadays. I haven't looked into the quality and number of power stages, and the MSI could be superior there for all I know.

The Gigabyte board has the following features that push it into a slightly nicer tier, whether you want them or not:
Heat sinks for all four NVME drives vs. just one
"Armor" for two of the DIMM slots
Better audio chipset
SPDIF output
Beefier VRM heatsinks?
Integrated IO shield
Built-in RGB and a reset button on board

You'll also notice the MSI board has some busy silk screening on it. This is sometimes used to hide a lack of features (so that you don't readily notice a lack of chips, slots, etc.). Again, MSI was the motherboard company I wanted to buy from because they're getting good reviews and I'm sure it's a fine board. One of the reasons it was chosen to receive coreboot was it was a good value and MSI had already sold a lot of them.

The Newegg $426 bundle had 32GB of DDR5. Not sure if that's worth the $76, but it's OOS now anyways.
if it's the bundle i saw, then hell no it's worth it. the ddr5 kit in that bundle was trash and will be slower than a decent ddr4 kit. this is also a dead platform. there will not be any new CPUs or feature updates to it. the best you can hope for is security patches.

if you are going for a 12th/13th gen intel platform at this point in time, as intel is about to EOL it, the best thing to do is spend as little as possible

having said all that, this is an amazing platform to build a low cost, high performance NAS with. this motherboard has lot of expansion options and the CPU has a good mix of fast and efficient cores to which you can assign tasks to. my home NAS has a 12700k and a similar motherboard, albeit from asus. i have media containers running on the P cores while wifi and IoT software is on the E cores. got 3 SSDs for cache, a dual SFP+ nic and SATA RAID controller for my spinning rust on the 16x (4x eletrical) PCI-E slots with tons of room still available for expansion. it runs circles around the over priced synology turd blossom i bought and returned last year.

It seems like for every manufacturer there are people that had a horrible experience and will never buy from them again and people who had the opposite experience. There doesn't seem to be a consensus best company to buy from.
Hmm. Not exactly. Gigabyte is on a whole different level when it comes to product support. I would suggest you to give them a call yourself and see how long it takes to get a human to answer. Its generally over 1 hour.

Would this be a great deal for someone who is building their first PC? I am very new to building so any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Absolutely. This build is still amazing despite it being discounted for being a generation old. Unless youre pairing it with an Nvidia 4090, its a great high performance but good value build.

Worth keeping everything? I want to upgrade my old i5-4690?
Yes. People will say there are better motherboards, better RAM, and while thats true, its not necessarily worth paying more for. Considering that youre coming from an ancient i5-4690, this build as is magnitudes better. I would not recommend changing anything. The slight weakness is the RAM capacity, 2x8GB is perfectly fine but 2x16GB would be ideal if youre going to use the build for a decade again. You can always add another 2x8GB kit for a total of 32GB, it will be slightly worse than a 2x16GB kit, but id just stick with the 2x8GB until you know you need more.

Will this deal get restock? It shows out stock in So Cal LA, only after I did research of the choice of cpu and MB and decided what to buy in the current market price range. SSD and RAM on the other hand will be going through many price drops in the coming months due to east Asia brought more factories in production as we speak. Yet Intel's next big thing is still a year away which is supposed revolutionary. For now the 13th gen core are what we can get if time is in essence.

PS, mistaken this as the 13th gen combo deal earlier.

I can't comment on video editing directly because I don't do it, but I've always seen recommendations on having lots of RAM 64gb to 128gb. For photo editing, having a faster processor and especially a high end Nvidia GPU helps with the new AI generation in Photoshop or Denoise features in Lightroom. Batching several dozen photos for Denoise in Lightroom utilized 100% of my 4090 and it still took a few minutes (13900KS CPU).

Come to NY. Expensive AF here but 4 Micro Centers for you to waste whatever remaining cash you might have...
I used to work at the first one they had here. You took a technology test just to be a CASHIER! Needless to say, met a bunch of future IT people there and those tests are long gone for employees.
Still the best damn store around though, except for Total Wine obviously. That place is Toys 'R Us for adults.

is it necessary to add another set of 2x8gb ram to this if I wanted to use this bundle?
I think it's very strange to pair this with only 16GB of RAM, so I'd say yes. Actually I'd try to offload these and get 2x16.

It's not at all necessary to buy another set of 2x8 for this. It really just depends on what you're going to be doing with the system. If you're going to build a system and throw a 3060 in it for medium to light gaming, then 16 gigs of Ram should be more than fine. If you're going to throw like…a 4090 in there and do some serious 4k ultra settings gaming, then I'd recommend probably nixing the 2x8 altogether and getting like a 2x16 or 2x32 kit. In so many instances, 2 sticks run as dual channel performs better than 4 sticks (of same capacity) in the same system.

Ultimately, though, I'd recommend running the 2x8 set in whatever your use case would be and see if it suits your needs.
