Good starter set for new homeowner or apartment dweller... And you can save a lot of money going with the "brushed" units that are still very good tools and some cases imho better for some jobs tending toward being smaller in addition to much less expensive. I love that drill driver. My M12 tools are mostly dedicated to the Trailer while I have black and yellow for heavy work.

If you plan to use these more than occasionally and casually, spend a bit more and get a Gen 3 kit. But for light and casual use, I'm sure these are fine.

A kit with battery & charger's going to cost way more than 30% more than this.

Eh yeah, misremembered. I paid 145. Id pay retail all day long though.

Gen 3 m12 fuel impact is faster than than the brushed m18 and arguably stronger. And its tiny.

I think a majority of people would pay the difference if trying both m12s side-by-side. Night and day difference

Can't argue with $85 or so for this kit if you only need it for occasional and casual use, where the Fuel kits would be overkill. I got the Gen 2 kit last year and don't regret it, but I use the driver quite a bit as a secondary impact wrench with adapter when I do car work.

If you want 6AH worth of legit Milwaukee batteries, they would end up being pretty cheap if you dump everything else, maybe even free.

The deal here is definitely the batteries. The drill is fine. Yes there are more powerful drills but this one is small and easy to toss around. Pretty useful around the house.

The impact is pretty difficult to recommend though. It's not only weak by todays standards, its slow and loud. Good for max 3in wood screws, and I wouldn't even recommend it for that, but it can do it.

Still this is a TU deal as a previous commenter posted as it's 6ah of oem Milwaukee batteries (2x 1.5ah, 1x 3ah)

Newb question.. I see Ryobi deals at comparable prices from time to time for brushless units.. Are they better than these in terms of power and reliability? These sure looks good. For a homeowner with casual needs, which is a better choice?
