I had an older version of this printer, lasted 15 months before a latch broke in it and would not stay closed so had constant error code. Had an expensive color inkjet from Canon that broke after 2 years as well going back before that. Personally I won't buy another printer from Canon, I'll stick to their cameras. Had extremely good luck with Brother printers so that's my recommendation for anyone looking for a printer.

I agree with you on this, any brother device I have is still good, 5+ years. Any Canon printers are in trash.
CPI says 17.6% net inflation since Jan 2020 to April 2023
Generic inflation statistics are of very limited relevance to a particular product or service.
My observations, for what they're worth as a regular visitor here, is that all-in-one lasers were frequently on sale for $80-100 pre-COVID. They're now $180-220 and rarely on sale (particularly Brother). I'd be happy to be proved wrong. In the meantime, my existing printers might not be worth their weight in gold, but sometimes it feels that way.

I got the brother mfcl2717 from costco for $149.99 with adf so this without seems to be worth less, imo
