Don't kid yourself into thinking that since this is a 12" subwoofer, it's going to get you ultra-low bass. It's probably not going to go any lower than a comparably priced 10". Having said that, $80 won't buy you much these days, and this would be fine for an entry-level HT system.

Here's a review [audiosciencereview.com] (I know that has a different #, but they appear to be the same model).

In my experience the vast majority of people will be better off running dual subs vs. a single, and if somebody is really money tight getting two of these would work out better than buying one $200 sub (or getting one of these to supplement their current 'main' sub at a low price)

50-250hz so yes, it isn't an ultra low frequency unit, but for the price I suspect it would be fine for many.
