This hits almost every point. The blade selection is very good for a three-knife kit. I'm not crazy about the serrations on the utility knife, but I suppose that the thinking there is something to cut bread or frozen food. The sheaths alone are half the value here. As roadstir suggested, these would be a great gift, especially for someone just getting started who is a long ways away from selecting their "forever" knives. Under 8 bucks, they will easily last a year and could probably tolerate a dishwasher if not subject to a lot of other abuse.

The design and pattern on the blades is weird though. It looks nice and kitchen-y and all, but for knives, it's almost like a form of camouflage and that's not good. It's maybe something better left to dishes or the handles of cooking utensils.

Agreed. Probably good in a situation like a picnic or camping where you can treat them as disposable.
Exactly - a good set of tools for a potluck or something. For openers, for sure nobody would steal them. Smilie

Always so much hate on Cuisinart knives. We have a few hundred dollar a piece Japanese knives but always end up using the crappy 6 pack set of these we bought years ago. May need to sharpen them a bit more often but they feel good. Dish washer safe. Etc.

Funny how that works. I spend a ton of time maintaining and preening the Wusthofs, Dalstrongs, etc, but usually find myself grabbing the $6 Kiwis and a massive NSF Russell chef's knife that Costco sell for $9/ea in the two-pack.

I've chosen to take it up as a hobby but the idea of buying something like this, using it for a year then buying something else and repeating the cycle has tremendous appeal to me as a highly efficient, low maintenance alternative.

They ain't pretty but they would be perfect for vacation knives. They are sheathed for transportation, easily Identifiable, and not a total loss if you accidentally left them behind. I hate the knives that are at vacation rental homes. They are always either dull, bent, or micro serrated.

Most people probably wouldn't want to be in your kitchen, so don't worry about it! 😉
