Has anyone seen this happening to their 3+ year old WD NAS drives? https://youtu.be/cLGi8sPLkLY

Just saw this report that WD has decided to start marking the drives as having a problem if you have enabled the WD analytics, after they have been on for 3 years of use.

It doesn't mean they stop working but may make it hard to know if your drive really has a problem if I'm understanding the video correctly?
Good luck lol
Some advice for people, don't upgrade your drives unless you're going to run out of space soon (next 6-12 months). They'll always get cheaper over time, it makes no sense to pay more for higher storage now if you're not actually going to use it soon. It's not like upgrading RAM / CPU where you can gain immediate benefits. I bought 4 4TB WD red drives around 4 yrs ago and up till now I've used only 21% of the storage. Every year I see these deals and convince myself I should upgrade, and then I check how much storage I've actually used and realize there's no point upgrading.

While I do not think I can use these in my NAs (don't believe it support drives this large) I am thinking about it for my desktop PC to replace a 1 and 3 TB drive and get far more future-proofed space. Would this be ok for a desktop system? Or would it be better to go with non NAS/red drives?

Any other deals going on? My home Plex server with a 3x 4TB just dumped and looking to move to a 2x NAS raid 1 or thunderbolt 2x DAS raid 1, but looking for 2x16TB or higher capacity NAS HDD's.

Someone should mark this as expired, to ease my repeated disappointment in missing out.

How is that done anyway? OP or a Mod?

It's gotten me the past 3 days. I reported it as expired by using the 3 dots in the upper right on the iOS app
