Tempting... but at this point I think I will wait for Zen 5 and for them to get more of the bugs out of AM5 stuff like motherboards....
My 5900X is still working well.
Agree. Currently a 5900x and 3080 FE user. Got both during the great bot war of 2020 and no need to upgrade the cpu at all. Gpu upgrade with 5000 series then maybe cpu platform depending but likely not necessary since mostly playing on 3440x1440 and maybe 4k display by then
I got the 5800 about 2 years ago, is it worth upgrading? Im guessing i need a new motherboard and ram ? 32 gigs speedy ddr4 ram, and the gtx3080. I havent kept up but wondering if its worth upgrading and sellling the old parts off

It's a step up, especially if you need the additional cores. It's a generation and a level up, so you'd notice the difference in several use cases. You'd need a new MB and DDR5 RAM.
Honestly, I'd love to buy your CPU, MB, and RAM. I'm nursing a Haswell 4770K and it can't get it done anymore. I'm CPU bound with a 6600 XT.

There's no real reason to upgrade. I'm trying to decide whether to go am4 similar to your current build or am5 right now and it isn't an easy decision. You're looking at like 20% uplift in CPU and maybe, maybe some benefit from ddr5 but you'll pay for all of that in a new MB, RAM and CPU. Wait for the 8000 series am5 procs and cheaper/better gen2 motherboards end of year or next year.

A poster talked about new CPUs coming, what's that about?
There's the older 5800x3d but is that 'good enough'...
