BEWARE: Geekbuying censors negative reviews. I left a 4 star review explaining problems I had with product, they did not post it, instead they opened a support ticket feigning to "help me". If they had read the review, they would see it is resolved. This is some sort of system to allow only five star reviews on items.

You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. It would cost you more to build your own phone than it would to buy one if you wanted the same hardware and functionality.
That is just as true for this device; unless you're literally in Shenzhen a parts list for this in the US would certainly cost more.

Retroarch didn't implement the game link emulation so you can't trade pokemon. But if you have multiple devices you can play stuff like Mario Cart in linked mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxrfblFXLTY

That said I don't think the WiFi is very useful for anything other than OTA updates of your OS.

I would recommend the Miyoo if you can afford it. The buttons and screen are better, the speaker and buttons are easily upgradable if you like messing with these things, and OnionOS is fantastic because the Miyoo Mini community is really big and active. In my personal experience I also feel that Anbernic has worse quality control than Miyoo, but some have complained about random QC stuff on Miyoo too (e.g. some screens were loose or came off in early batch).

The main drawback of the Miyoo is no HDMI out, but imo if you're going to be playing on the TV you should use a different emulation solution (maybe a computer + controller, a docked steam deck, etc). This device is for portability and nostalgia -- the form factor is really sweet.

I mostly play GB/GBC/GBA games and I love that OnionOS lets me toggle 4x fast forward for grindy games.
I wouldn't say better screen. Just different. Thinner bezels is nicer looking but it can break a lot easier. They're really too close in terms of quality though, both same size and resolution and both ips.

Considering you can just build it yourself for a few bucks in a short amount of time, it's really not worth it. As far as iPhones, they're overpriced. You'll get more bang for your buck with an Android phone.
My time is worth more than $30 - $50 an hour. You can not build this thing in an hour for $30 - $50 in parts alone.
Then sourcing over 5,000 ROM and then loading the OS.

Well it's not worth more than $30 an hour in terms of building one of these if you don't know how and make excuses not to do it. You can load the ROMs directly from an SD card, and they're all small files anyway. Additionally, if you are loading a lot of files, it's not like to have to sit and wait. But you are right. It's probably better that you buy one from the Chinese instead of manning up and building something from scratch if you're worried that it will take you too much time to learn and complete the project.
Let's see the one you built tough guy …

Can Miyoo do trade Pokemons?
