Can you explain this a bit more? Total tech provides free 2 year Apple care? Is this for any apple products you buy?

Yes and pretty much anything else you buy at best buy. I got totaltech and buy everything at Best buy now even if it costs a little more. I got everything from earbuds to electric scooters.

If you buy a LOT at BB, it's (totaltech) a good deal, because Apple stuff basically gets another year of warranty (just like Costco gives its members for free with membership, except Costco is cheaper per year, and usually has cheaper prices to begin with, although BB does match Costco, usually).

Bear in mind it's only one year added to the normal Apple warranty. Usually some think of AppleCare as a three year thing; this isn't that.

Bear in mind you have to pay for BB's TotalTech protection throughout. So you're "in" (paid) for $400 (year one, where you have no benefit, and year two, when your TT benefit begins) before you even get protection.

If you're buying a new house and need appliance installation and such, and BB has the products you want and the pricing is reasonable, with TT you'd get free install, delivery, setup, etc. - plus that extra year of warranty. There's a lot of value in that for many folks.

For Apple hardware, and you're OK with just one extra year of coverage rather than 2 extra years of coverage (which is what traditional AppleCare gives you) then it's just a cost-benefit equation to make a spreadsheet to see if the costs outweigh benefits or not.

The best consumer for this, in my eyes, is a new home buyer / refinisher who needs to replace a home's worth of content and strongly favors shopping at BestBuy, and is willing to use pricematch and other incentives to swing things in his favor. That person should buy this service for exactly two years, to get full coverage and free installs and setups, then drop this service (assuming his purchases also similarly slowed or stopped).

I wouldn't buy this if I bought a single MacBook every other year at BB and little else.

Given that (for appliances at least, granted not TV and electronics) Costco offers many of these same (install) benefits, I wouldn't get this if I liked shopping at Costco, either. One can get free appliance installs from Costco too, and warranty on at least some of them is +12 months too.

is this worth it? it's 5K and all. I'm thinking someone is going to just stop seeing the differences and get used to the quality screen given a few days lol

There is a difference between AppleCare+ and the regular Apple Warranty even in the first year! Accidental damage is not something the regular warranty covers but AppleCare+ does.

So yeah, if you buy your Apple gear or anything else really like the expensive $2900 lens I am eyeing from Canon at BestBuy. Accidental damage is a great perk so I don't have to baby my phone, laptop or my lens. I still use a case where I can but you get the idea.

One other note for this Apple display - bought a $1277 open box and surprise surprise - received a brand new sealed unit! Love the display, I may have to now dump the Samsung CRG9 widescreen, fonts and resolution not great with Macs.
