Lego city undercover is basically GTA for kids, except you're a cop. It took me 68 hours to get 100% completion. Would definitely recommend.

MK11 on Switch is a poor graphic version. if you want a portable then it is acceptable . But if you play on big screen TV , avoid it .

My son started Lego City Undercover when he was 7 and loved it, still loves it. Playing together on split screen is really fun too.

Repped! Got Scribblenauts. Doesn't have touchscreen support (I think), but for $6 I'll check it out.

Any of the Lego games any good for an 8 year old? He's always intrigued by them, but there are a lot to choose from.

Depends on the IP. My kid likes DC and enjoyed the DC villains game. He hasn't seen LOTR yet, etc. get something that ties in.

My 8 year old and 15 yr old both love the Lego Undercover, as well as any of the Harry Potter ones. You may have to help the 8 year old with some of the puzzles.

I love playing them all. You can't go wrong. I just picked up the Lego Movie one.

I never thought of it that way. My son loves it he is 15. I don't really approve of games like that. We do play violent games just not that one.

Lego City Undercover is awesome. I completed it in 2 player with my 9 year old and had lots fun. Even if you don't totally follow the missions there's lots of other fun side things and exploring to do. (She's 12 now and we still go back and play it!)

Seconded. Just pick the franchise your kid is familiar with; honestly can't go wrong. Another +1 for Lego City. I got Lego City, HP, the Marvel, and the DC ones for my 6 yo (at the time) and we played through all of them together.

Tempted to get these, but Lego games have been really laggy in the Switch in my experience (Lego City Undercover & DC Villains.)

Just to clarify, the MK11 deal is for the actual game not like a pack with skins and characters?

Lego City Undercover is a really cool game. Also MK11 has terrible graphics for the switch, I'd avoid.

I remember that the gimmick on for it on the WiiU was the ability to use the pad as a surveillance camera. Is it still fun without that two-screen functionality?

I've gotten a number of the Lego games on sale for my son, starting around age 8 with Lego City Undercover and Lego Worlds. He and I both enjoyed them. At the time he wasn't skilled enough to do the timed or platforming portions of Undercover by himself. He recently completed Harry Potter games by himself. I think his favorite seems to be Worlds, though. It's different from the others in that it's more of an undirected sandbox without a story, so he doesn't get stuck on progression and can simply get a vehicle and fly around blowing things up or whatever he wants to do. I didn't find Worlds interesting myself.

The older games go on sale for around $10 every few months, so I've generally just picked them up whenever we need a new one on sale.
