We have one of these and it's a good knife but the coating doesn't really add any value and is now starting to come off on food when we cut with it.

just got the all black version for same price at ross. on tuesdays you can get a senior discount if you have someone to go with.

you cant beat the value for the price of a restaurant meal.

That's not a good sign. Have you tried raising it with the manufacturer? I would submit a warranty claim and probably throw away the knives.

What does ceramic "coating" do to a knife?
Ceramic blade is one thing. But what is offered here sounds like fancy "paint" to me.

Not to TC at all; just looking for wisdom as I see this "ceramic coating" pitched over the last few years, and my first reaction was "a way to use "ceramic" in the product description to get people who don't know a difference buy it".
I know how to google, but arguably what you find there is sales pitch [starfrit.com].
I appreciate a good knife will cost $$$ and I own Shuns, Yaxells, and Wusthofs; just didn't get time to catch up on the latest "wisdom". Thx!

I realize price is not a fair comparison...but how do these compare to the Victorinox Fibrox knives? From a cutting perspective are they in the same ballpark?

doesn't mention ceramic at all anywhere in the listing that i could find. maybe two different models.

i sale wheel bearings and theres a huge difference between ceramic coated and non. mainly the price.

probably machine washed under extreme heat and steam it was not meant to withstand
