The extended answer and bad news is that Eufy customer support has claimed that they no longer intend to update the (Homebase 2) device to support usb storage. This was initially promised in mid 2020 and was claimed in the advertised specifications, but it would now seem that they intend to abandon this feature and implement it in the Home Base 3.(which has expanded storage of up to 16TB)
(minus $10 It's easy to find a coupon for $10 off new customers)
