Why limit only Google pay to in-store when others are allowed to be used online.
Don't recollect ever sending one to Discover. Been using them for 13 yrs now. So not sure if this a new requirement
Don't think paypal is included under 'digital wallets', this is their terms:
Digital Wallet purchases include some online purchases and some in-store purchases made with your smartphone, tablet, or wearable. Wallets that qualify include Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Garmin Pay and in store with Google Pay. Apple Pay transactions included in this offer are transactions made in-store or online when using the Apple Pay button. Listed merchants are in no way sponsoring or affiliated with this program. Certain third-party payment accounts and digital wallet transactions may not earn 5% if Discover does not receive sufficient transaction detail for the purchase to be identified as being through a digital wallet. Discover does not determine the transaction details it receives for purchases. Using digital wallets to make purchases at gas stations will only earn a total of 5%.

I believe this is incorrect. You might want to read your terms again.
not necessarily incorrect, my boss has a card that does give that rate, but she got that rate only because she is a whale in their checking and saving account first.
I use google calendar along with the "todo agenda" widget from f-droid.org which displays my calendar on my homepage....I track my Citi custom cash(whatever category the others do not cover), discover, chase freedom flex, and citi dividend ) I also have a BOA Custom cash that gives 5.25% (3% normally unless you have enough funds with BOA/Merril Edge) on all online purchases and a citi doublecash for a flat 2% on everything as well as another that does 3% on gas, restaurants, home improvement , and office supply). It keeps me on track.
You are missing out on alot just with the flat 2%.
Whoa, boa custom cash at 5.25% for online purchases is massive. I have the 3% and my wife got 4% (since she's the bank and her acct has more $)...but 5.25% is crazy. Gotta look into that.
Also, my system for tracking cb rotation is simple: take screenshot of each offer at the beginning of the period and save to a "CB" gallery folder on my phone. When I need to buy something, open up that folder.
The problem with Discover CC is that, I can never remember these calendar categories. It changes 4 times a year. Won't even both to play with Discover. Will stick to my 2% everything CC.
This is a matter of pure laziness. Add a simple line item in your "Notes" on your phone and reference it if you don't remember. It's not rocket science.
So annoying they took Paypal off the digital wallet list when they had included it every other time in the past. Made a large purchase thinking paypal was included.
I just got offered an extra 4% cash back up to $2k spent through september. Anyone know if it will stack with this 5% apple pay one? In the past these time of offers seemed to stack, but this one doesn't say in the email.
FYI, I just got an email today and Discover is offering 5% cashback at Target as well, seems to be a targeted offer? This was the email text:
First Name, you have another way to earn 5%. From Jul–Aug, earn 5% cash back at Target, on up to $1,000 in purchases when you activate.*
And the email title was: "Special offer: earn 5% cash back at Target"
were you able to stack it with digital wallet? I was just now offered 4% extra cb on ALL purchases anywhere, so hoping it will stack with apple pay to get to 9% back.
Will likely pay my Progressive Auto Insurance bill on app with Google Pay using Discover, Not available on desktop version.
In past years, I would pay my Progressive bill via PayPal on desktop.
ETA: Thanks to nash_dub, Discover site states in-store only for Google Pay. I might not be able to do as earlier thought.
Has anyone tried to pay insurance with Apple Pay this way? I can pay via Apple Pay in the state farm app.
