It's definitely a good upgrade from a 2600x (particularly for gaming) but check your motherboard's CPU compatibility list first (on its support website) to be sure it's on there. If it is, you'll want to update the BIOS to its latest version

Does this depend on the motherboard I use ? I have the B450 gaming plus with Ryzen 5 2600x, RTX 2060 6gb for 1080p gaming.
Does this a good update for my setup , or do I have to buy new MB?

If you make sure you flash the latest BIOS prior to upgrade, the B450 is fine with the 5800X3D, If you are running slower ram (< 3000Mhz) you might want to consider DDR4 3600 CL18 or better, these third gen chips love 3600Mhz. But even without, you'll still be happy.
However...What you lose with B450 is PCIe 4.0. This will constrain your next-gen GPU upgrade in the future a little. 4.0x8 GPUs may see some (<10%) FPS loss on the B450. You may be locked out of DirectStorage in W11 later on.
But it is also worth mentioning that the 5800X3D is a monster of a CPU for Gaming. Possibly overkill for you considering the spend and the B450 limitation. If you have a Microcenter near, their $300/$350 Intel combos will get you a whole lot more in the future for your money.
Wondering if it's worth upgrading from 3700x just to procrastinate a bit longer for ddr5
I think this will last a few more years with DDR4. It's not like the new stuff with DDR5 has an insane performance increase. I think AM4 will be good for a few more years. This cpu is great for gaming if you game a lot it be worth it.

Thanks for putting so much time replying, really appreciated.
I have Vengeance 3200 16Gb memory.

Will be better option for future updates with RTX 4070 or maybe 3060 Ti?
I bought this to pair with my 4090. This will hold me over until the next launches. Very happy with the performance. I didn't feel a need to upgrade motherboard, CPU and ram. Especially since they are all overpriced right now.
I upgraded to a 5800x3d a week after buying the 5600x and got big bumps in performance. Diablo 4 at 1440p with a 6800xt plays around the 150fps mark, much more with an rtx card

You absolutely do NOT need a new MB. all you need to do is update your motherboard's bios first before you remove your 2600x.
If you buy the 5800x3d, apply some good thermal paste and put it in your system. That's it. The b450 is absolutely fine for the specs you have and the 5800x3d will make sure your 2060 is running at the max. It's the max cpu upgrade for the AM4 socket.
Im about to grab one to upgrade my ryzen 3600 + rtx 2070. I have an ancient b350 from 2017 and it will not hold back the new cpu. you're good.

I think that might be the right direction, honestly you could even to a normal 5600, it is still a big leap in performance. That price isn't that sharp though, you could buy the CPU and MB for the same or less separately. Upside to this is that you can sell your old CPU and MB to fund it. The 5800X3D is a bit faster than a 5600X but if you are playing in 1080P 144Hz, I'm not sure how much you would notice.
6700XT is the value sweet spot right now in GPUs and will probably be for a while, if you want to spend a little more, you could do it all in one fell swoop and sell your old GPU too. but hey, thats the kind of logic that ended me up with a 12700K and RTX 4070 when my original budget was much less haha.

I did update bios to the latest.
If I am between this cpu and the Ryzen 5 5600x , which one do you think will be better deal for future updates?
