I would have loved to get ultra cheap 64 GB like this back when I was shopping for my OptiPlex, but I could never confirm that 64 GB would be supported (despite the 6600T CPU supporting it).

Great price. I think the catch here is that it's a "2-Pack" combo rather than a memory kit, so they could have very slight differences and were never tested together.

In for one to upgrade a 16gb laptop.
One concern is that because they're 2 x single sticks and not a kit out of the box there is a tiny chance of it not working properly in dual channel without tweaking.

You can use these as 2 separate sticks in 2 different computers right? I think that is wha tyou are saying but not sure

The prices weren't as good as this one, more like $115 when I checked a couple months ago. $86 is crazy, nearing the mythical $1/GB.

I was about to pull the trigger yesterday until I read this comment. Would anyone doing most normal tasks and occasional gaming actually be able to tell the difference? Looks like I missed out since it wasn't clear when I was looking it up on Reddit. How difficult is it to tweak and can it be done in bios on most laptops?

I think it's nonsense because they are the same exact model of RAM stick which means they passed the same exact QC tests when they were manufactured.

During my research, there were slight differences in timing supposedly and they said it's already tweaked in a kit vs two separate ones even being the same brand and model. I don't think most consumers would even notice unless you're maxing out your computer multiple times a week such as hardcore gaming? Hopefully another ram deal comes up in the near future and these prices follow the ssd path.
