Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

I just need a simple answer here. If I always get back money every year for my taxes. I don't claim anything. Will that negate the tax credit? meaning it is useless for me?

Beware of the range. Though the given range is 270 miles or so (RWD), you hardly get even 200 miles (long drive)on a full charge and even less if you drive in the city. This is no matter how well you drive. Using options like sentry mode and climate control will further drain the battery. This is for people who are buying their first electric car. The actual range will be a shocker for first time buyers.
That ain't my experience. I have a 2022 Tesla RWD (SR+). I drive from LA to Santa Barbara regularly. It's about a 200-220 mile round trip. Fairly flat, except for big hill out of Camarillo. Obviously, moderate climate...but I keep the setting at 70 so the HVAC is running full time. I keep cruise control set at 75 MPH.

When I return home, I always have between 40-60 miles, which for a 264 mile range is fairly accurate. My Tesla owning friends have similar experiences.

And, FWIW, mileage/battery is better in the city due to regen braking.

$15k for me
Several years ago before covid, HELCO the local power company here on The Big Island, offered a $10000 rebate for a Nissan Leaf. Leafs at the time were selling for $25000 so your price would have been $15000.

Cleary shows Tesla Model 3 RWD qualifying for a $3750 rebate. The ONLY sources that show it qualifies for more would be from the Elon Cult members who advertise for the company.

I wouldn't put it past Tesla to advertise the car qualifies for the full 7500 just to desperately sell the cars overflowing their parking lots and the owners are screwed when they don't qualify for the credit. Nothing surprises me anymore with Tesla.

In the winter, I'm lucky if I get half of the range on my 5 year old M3.

So on the Tesla post the price shows after rebate price but the Bolt EV post it shows the MSRP and the description states rebate is possible?

What kind of crap are you pulling Slickdeals? Moderators part of Elon Cult army?

In what way are Camry and Accords larger than a model 3? Are you referring to external dimensions or internal leg room, headroom, cargo space?
Since you are partially vision-impaired or have not seen them on the road, the dimensions are as follows:
2023 Camry- 192-193″ L x 72″ W x 56-57″ H
2023 Accord- 196″ L x 73″ W x 57″ H
2023 Model S- 198″ L x 78″ W x 56″ H
2023 Tesla Model 3- 185″ L x 73″ W x 56-57″ H
2023 Corolla- 183″ L x 70″ W x 57″ H

Use electric car around town and keep a ICE car for road trips. Problem solved.
