You forgot to mention the $1390 destination fee, $425 for wall connector, $230 for mobile charger, $250 non-refundable order fee.

Tesla Model 3 RWD starts at $40,240 but is now eligible for the full $7,500 federal tax credit (income limits apply). Previously, it was only eligible for $3,750. This makes the starting price $32,740 after tax credit.

Deal is even sweeter if you live in a state with additional credits:

VT: $26,320
MA: $26,830
PA: $27,330
RI: $27,820
DE: $27,820
NY: $28,320
CA: $28,330
CO: $28,330
CT: $29,030
ME: $29,320

Full tax credit details below, but the following income limits apply:

$300,000 for married couples filing jointly
$225,000 for heads of households
$150,000 for all other filers

NO IT DOES NOT.

Withholding is totally irrelevant to qualifying for the credit.

If you're unclear on this go read a 1040.

The part where you compute tax liability is lines 16 through 24.

THAT is where the $7500 EV credit comes off.

Your withholdings aren't even looked at until after that on line 25+

This is also not correct.

The Child Tax Credit is worth a maximum of $2,000 per qualifying child. Up to $1,600 is refundable for the 2023 tax year.

Refundable credits are computed AFTER non-refundable ones-- so the CTC is only "worth" $400 off your tax burden for these purposes- the $1600 left is refundable.

Thus if you had say $7900 in tax burden and one CTC and one EV credit, your tax burden would go to $0 and you'd get a full refund of the $1600 refundable part of the CTC

Agreed, I don't like how billions of tax dollars go to oil drilling either. I'm not sure why I pay a dollar of that considering I haven't used a single ounce of gasoline this year. That cost should be shouldered entirely by the engine burning the gas or the cost of the gasoline itself from the pump

Then in 10 years tax payers are going to be paying for carbon sequestration because our crops will be wiped out by the radiative forcing properties of carbon dioxide Frown
how about plastic? did you use any? CPVC or PEX pipe i your place?

Refer to this site, not everyone will qualify for the full amount. There's 2 applications to do, One is the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project Increased Rebate, the other is Clean Vehicle Assistance Program. One is a grant with its own terms and conditions (have to own the car 30 months, use this grant at specific dealerships, i think there's only 1 tesla in California that takes it, and others terms...). The other is a rebate application you submit within 90 days of purchasing. I haven't gone through the whole process but there's the info.

Which incentives? I'm on the fence as I also don't have a good way to charge at home (extension cord dangled off the 2nd floor balcony? Ha) But if it comes out cheap enough I'll just go to a supercharge station once a week and it'll still be less than I'm paying in gas now...

2024 and 2025 models are going to be a lot more competitive, I expect prices to fall substantially over the next 1-2 years. All asset classes are inflated right now.

Yep, at this price, Tesla 3 is the most sensible car to buy. Not sure how the insurance is these days, that may cause some financial disparity, but otherwise - can't be stolen, can't have your catalytic converter violated, pretty good space inside and relatively compact outside. CA DMV registrations are still cheaper for electric vehicles. At this point it is cheaper than basic Camry SE, which often comes with "dealer installed options" for another couple thousands. The tech is not even comparable.
Elon realized that if he can have a large base of cars, will likely get the monopoly over the charging network, which puts him in the rare opportunity to become the new Rockefeller of 21st+ centuries.

Wait for the EVs coming from REAL auto manufacturers with REAL service. Don't become the statistic of someone stuck with a broken car for months who gets flamed for complaining about it from Musk nuthangers. The horror stories on these cars are far, far too numerous IMO.

Tesla is the best EV manufacturer in the planet right now? Where are you planning on buying your Jetson UFO from that's more reliable? Lol.

Just wanted to say I bought my model 3 in 2019. Have not had any issues with the car, service department is always full but that because we need more Tesla dealerships in central FL. Also, best car I've ever owned. Favorite to have ever driven. #sorry to all the haters just my experience.

1 - The 250 deposit is deducted from the total due. so this comment is deceptive. 2 - most people use the mobile charger as their home or wall connector. most people do not get both. 3 - I believe most stealerships also charge a destination fee. 4 - did you get burned up by not investing in tsla in 2019

i nought my model 3 in 2020. it embarrassing how much better this car is to your typical 30k gas guzzler. waking up to a 'full tank', the quiet, the lack of noxious and dangerous emissions, blowing past dangerous drivers, the constant improvement through over the air updates. amazing. yes, their are other good Evs, but the charging network sets this one apart imho

I don't see $37830 on website, looks $40240. I guess topic owner reduce existing inventory discount. I already bought one. I went to demo drive and like the car.

$37830
-7500 federal tax credit
-3500 ma ev rebate(refundable)
-1500 trade in discount on sales tax. I am waiting for final trade in offer, for now it show $1000 more than I expected. I hope they give that number. My delivery date is next tuesday.
Total 25330.
