To any newbies to the points game, redeeming your points for gift cards, physical items, or even statement credit is a poor use of points.

This is effectively 1.15 cents per point value (plus buying an apple product at MSRP), whereas flights or hotels, you can get ~1.8 cents per point valuation
Uhm, isn't 'Pay yourself back' better value?
Travel partners point transfer.

My First Class United flight from San Diego to Geneva was 70k points for a $3,500 flight. Effectively 5 cents per point.

With this redemption on Apple, 70k points will get you an 11" iPad Pro or effectively $805.00.

A poor example if you don't travel and love electronics but, essentially, you get more bang for your buck when you redeem for travel.

You get better value if you have the CSR / Ink cards.
Better value? It seems none of the offers apply to anything lower that Chase Sapphire and Ink cards. I have a freedom unlimited and its been nothing but charitable organization payments that quality for Pay Yourself Back.

FYI I think for Ink Business Unlimited card holders, this is a good way to dump your points. Business Unlimited is a $0 AF card with no transfer option and 1:1 travel redemptions.

This is incorrect. Transfer the points to a partner. Deal with airline directly using the airline rewards program and points.

I do this all the time. Best bang for your buck will be first/business class international flights. If you primarily fly domestically and don't want to spend on business class, I tend to use southwest. Your points are only worth 1.5cents but flying southwest is very simple, no crazy fees, and I have a ton of options as I'm near a hub.

With united constantly devaluing award travel, I rarely, if ever, find it to be less miles than buying on chase and applying points with sapphire reserve. I booked July 4th trip to Amsterdam and Belgium business class a couple of mths ago and got more value by buying through chase and applying points than transferring to my mileage plus acct.

Point valuations are sometimes silly. Like when TPG gets 4c ona. First class transcon flight that most of us would never take.

For hotels I get a good work discount without points as I think the air is more valuable since prices are up.

For all non BA short haul awards on American, it can take hours and hours and days to find international award availability. So remember what your time is worth
For those who do fly- I do usually transfer my points for flights, Amex MR to ANA for international and BA for American Airlines flights in Texas or Florida. Chase has great options too.

Redeemed an apple gift card 2 days before. The gift card activation link won't work. Now I need to contact the chase support.

For those planning to get the Apple Gift Card and have a Target Red Card, I'd just get it there because the net price is about the same (provided you shop at Target) and you don't use your points to save for a better redemption in the future.

Target:
$100 - 5% Target Red Card + Free $10 Target gift card.
