Hate when people include tax credits into price that not everyone qualifies for without all the info, it's a little misleading in these ev/Tesla threads. This requires a tax liability of $7500 or more that you get after you file and is not point of sale. Also max income of $150-300k for single/married filers to qualify. Also there is nothing new here, this is MSRP, info on tax credit, and the charger install was always included with bolt purchase (since Feb '21)

edit: For clarification from the wiki: "The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due."
So lower income people will not get a $7500 refund, it depends on your liability. i.e. A SDer responded about a student being angry in a previous thread that they only got $500 back and not $7500.

LOL no.

Virtually all of the ICE vehicle can be recycled. Generally the only items not recyclable per se will be interior trim - it's mixed plastic and rubber. Engine? steel or aluminum. Gearcases? Steel or aluminum. Body, frame, etc, steel or aluminum. In fact, about 86% of a car can be recycled [recyclenation.com].

Meanwhile your EV will still have a fully and readily recyclable frame and body, just like the ICE. The motor will generally be recyclable. The battery? Not really. Generally batteries and battery packs are not really designed for recycling. Most are just thousands of individual cylindrical cells, that themselves are spiral wound multilayer structures. There's no easy way to separate the materials here. An ICE, you literally rip out the engine with heavy equipment and include it in with any other steel or aluminum - the process is astonishingly easy and quick [youtube.com] with heavy equipment.

Meanwhile, the batteries are generally just shredded [ucsusa.org]. The resulting material is called "black mass" and is placed into a bath of caustic chemicals to leech out the *important* elements. In certain cases, that black mass is first incinerated to burn off plastic and epoxies. Yeah that sounds super efficient and environmental to me.

So basically these cars could simply be like you iphone or Guarraty disposable product. Please upgrade and throw your old one in the trash. So much for saving the environment and saving money.

Most 40 amp breakers are rated for 32 amps continuous load (3+ hours), 40 amp maximum load.
NEMA 14-50 is just the receptacle. I put in a 50A breaker but cap my charger at 40A on my NEMA 14-50. So sounds like their installation is just good for 32A home chargers which is still totally fine, albeit a little slower.

This is an odd post as a 'deal' on here - unlike Tesla, you have to negotiate on pricing with Chevy dealers (which can be an absolute nightmare, depending on the dealer). Plus, all of the tax credits must line up with your own personal situation as far as total liability, etc.

Yes, the Bolt can be a great deal, but putting the pricing in the headline like that is extremely misleading IMO.

For anyone seriously considering this, adjust your withholding down on that W4 so you can owe and have a tax liability

That being said, if you live in a major city, good luck finding a Bolt that isn't over MSRP
This is a common misconception. Withholdings only affect how much you may additionally owe by tax time, but doesn't actually affect your tax liability. If you meet the income requirements and your liability => $7500, you will get the full $7500 back either as a refund (if you withheld too much) or towards your liability.

Since I did not have enough tax liability to get the full $7500 (only about $5500), I ended up purchasing a used Bolt in April. Plus these cars are hard to find. It has been a great car so far. I already received my PA $2000 and will get another $4000 at tax time next year.

You don't need to adjust your withholding to qualify. The $7,500 is concerned about the total tax you owe which includes what you've already been paying throughout the year. For example, this would appear on line 24 in your 2022 1040 federal tax form.

That being said, you can still adjust your withholding if you want to start preparing/offsetting for the large credit that will be awarded in your 2023 taxes. Again, this is not required to qualify for the tax credit. This is NOT required and would even advise caution to be careful so as to not incur an IRS penalty for too little tax withholding.

Very misleading post title. 19,000 my ass. In Eugene Oregon ( not a big city ) the cheapest out the door price for a new Chevy bolt is 38k , minus the 7,500 and you get a 31.5k car. This vehicle is an absolute joke for 32k. Buy anything other than this!

A licensed electrician will wire it correctly and it will be permitted and inspected. If someone tries to use a 50A appliance, it will pop the breaker. No damage done, no fire hazard. It's common. The EVSE specifies the breaker to be used, and it's okay to undersize the breaker for the outlet as long as the wiring is rated for the breaker size also.
Breaker actuation time at 125% would be something like 2 hours....

While I totally agree with everything you said, I believe they changed it to point of sale (or if it isn't yet, are currently changing it).

I own a Bolt EUV and it's so much nicer than I anticipated. Got it (at MSRP) earlier this year after placing a factory order a few months prior. The factory will close production of the EV and EUV soon so for those looking to get one, try to find one that's in transit and not claimed yet. That probably means scouring Chevys site and making 100's of phone calls and dealing with BS dealers who mark up (or add idiotic dealer-installed add-ons), but if you get lucky and find one, you got yourself a great vehicle. As others have pointed out, it's not a rebate and adjusting your withholdings won't change your tax liability.

Range is pretty great, the car is surprisingly spacious inside (no problem fitting a few car seats in), and Chevy's free installation of the receptacle means I just plug in the car overnight and have a full battery by morning. Coming from Japanese cars, and hating every Chevy rental I've ever driven, I didn't expect to love the car as much as I do. The instant torque and smooth ride really make it a fun vehicle to drive.
