Hate when people include tax credits into price that not everyone qualifies for without all the info, it's a little misleading in these ev/Tesla threads. This requires a tax liability of $7500 or more that you get after you file and is not point of sale. Also max income of $150-300k for single/married filers to qualify. Also there is nothing new here, this is MSRP, info on tax credit, and the charger install was always included with bolt purchase (since Feb '21)

edit: For clarification from the wiki: "The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due."
So lower income people will not get a $7500 refund, it depends on your liability. i.e. A SDer responded about a student being angry in a previous thread that they only got $500 back and not $7500.

LOL no.

Virtually all of the ICE vehicle can be recycled. Generally the only items not recyclable per se will be interior trim - it's mixed plastic and rubber. Engine? steel or aluminum. Gearcases? Steel or aluminum. Body, frame, etc, steel or aluminum. In fact, about 86% of a car can be recycled [recyclenation.com].

Meanwhile your EV will still have a fully and readily recyclable frame and body, just like the ICE. The motor will generally be recyclable. The battery? Not really. Generally batteries and battery packs are not really designed for recycling. Most are just thousands of individual cylindrical cells, that themselves are spiral wound multilayer structures. There's no easy way to separate the materials here. An ICE, you literally rip out the engine with heavy equipment and include it in with any other steel or aluminum - the process is astonishingly easy and quick [youtube.com] with heavy equipment.

Meanwhile, the batteries are generally just shredded [ucsusa.org]. The resulting material is called "black mass" and is placed into a bath of caustic chemicals to leech out the *important* elements. In certain cases, that black mass is first incinerated to burn off plastic and epoxies. Yeah that sounds super efficient and environmental to me.

So basically these cars could simply be like you iphone or Guarraty disposable product. Please upgrade and throw your old one in the trash. So much for saving the environment and saving money.

I honestly think 14-50 on 40AMP breaker is much safer than on 50AMP breaker. It makes sure your charger is not pulling more than 40A continuously which protects wire and outlet. With 50A breaker, it will never trip if you keep pulling say 45A continuously

How can I go about finding one? I would prefer the EUV for extra legroom, maybe it's easier to find?
I used the inventory search at Chevrolet.com. Found several within 250 miles, but either had too many options than I wanted to pay for, or dealers wanted to mark up the MSRP by thousands which I refused. Expanded my search and found what I wanted at Criswell Chevrolet in Gaithersburg, MD at MSRP. Flew to DC, metro out to Gaithersburg, salesman picked me up at the metro station and drove me to the dealership. Process was seamless. I didn't like the $499 doc fee, but it didn't seem horrible based on the availability of the vehicle and the shit other dealers were trying to pull on these.

Meters should have some sort of seal, and should be serviced only by company folks. Then tapped into connection at the meter output, as verified by installer, should not be a concern with stealing power.
It would probably be against strict letter of the code, but not really against the spirit
Can you provide a link to such a device?

Can we ban EV car posts at least the ones where there is actually no deal at all? Seriously, there is no discount or price drop so why is this posted? Is this not just advertisement at this point?
thats because slickdeals is a hedgefund bought forum.
they are pushing bad deals for their own sake.

I tried to get a Bolt several months ago and there was a $7k dealer markup. Of cause I told them go F themselves. So why this is a deal now? What has changed?
the mods endorse this deal because dealers cant sell them.

Imagine telling the Navy their ships have to be refueled in America, no exceptions. That's downright stupid. The fact that you have to make lame excuses tells me and everyone else these cars are useless. It's a CAR. It gets driven places. If it can't go anywhere reliably, it's USELESS!!!

You continue to provide more evidence this is inferior to gas. I have no idea why.
Your comment provides nothing except false information here. Maybe an EV isn't for you, but it absolutely is a better choice for me, and many other people. I'll never go back to gas unless my driving needs change drastically and require frequent, long trips.

I'll admit this isn't a new deal and probably shouldn't be posted here, but calling it a bad deal is disingenuous imo. I think it's a fantastic price for a great car.

Why would anyone buy this runt when they could buy a Tesla for practically the same price? I'm picturing someone who covers their automobiles with lecturing bumper stickers.
The cheapest Tesla is $10,000 more.

Then you'd only qualify for a $1,300 credit. Not a refundable credit like EITC.
They have 2 kids. While the regular $2000 child tax credit is nonrefundable, the additional child tax credit of $1500 is refundable. So they would get $4300 of the tax credit.
Quote from Core2Quad :
Is the free charger install just for them to install an outlet? It's not a free L2 charger right? Pretty sure the bolt comes with a L1/L2 charger that does 32A @ 240V.
It could be used to install an outlet or a hardwired install if you provide the EVSE. I think the regular EV comes with a L1 and you can upgrade to a L1/L2 for $250 or it comes standard with an EUV. Keep it mind is only free for up to $1500 for the install. If it costs more, you'll have to pay for the difference.

The credit does not depend on what you owed or if you were owed a refund at tax time.

It's based on your gross tax liability. In other words, it would add $7500 to your refund or offset any liability and refund the difference, as long as you had prepaid and were charged over $7500 in taxes throughout the year.

Thanks. I was dreading the tax due at filing time questions. Tax liability "remains" even if you pay it monthly and can adjust at tax time for refund.

But it's not refundable :0

Going by MSRP it is.

The issue is many folks in the thread reporting local dealers are heavily marking Bolts up above MSRP.

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2023...a-fortune/

Story at GM Authority about this very issue citing dealers asking 45-57k for a Bolt... ONE of the dealers cited claimed it was an "error" once someone called em out on it- the others appear to have made no such excuses.
This is a problem, but not universal amongst all dealers. Except for stupid doc fees that ranged from $200-$800, I ended up with the EUV I wanted for MSRP +$499 doc fee just last week. I found a couple of others at MSRP too. Just requires some online searching, several phone calls, and probably some travel to get to the one you want. But it is possible.
