Hate when people include tax credits into price that not everyone qualifies for without all the info, it's a little misleading in these ev/Tesla threads. This requires a tax liability of $7500 or more that you get after you file and is not point of sale. Also max income of $150-300k for single/married filers to qualify. Also there is nothing new here, this is MSRP, info on tax credit, and the charger install was always included with bolt purchase (since Feb '21)

edit: For clarification from the wiki: "The tax credit is not refundable, which means one must have federal tax due to take advantage of it. If the tax due is less than the credit amount, one can only claim the credit up to the amount of the tax due."
So lower income people will not get a $7500 refund, it depends on your liability. i.e. A SDer responded about a student being angry in a previous thread that they only got $500 back and not $7500.

LOL no.

Virtually all of the ICE vehicle can be recycled. Generally the only items not recyclable per se will be interior trim - it's mixed plastic and rubber. Engine? steel or aluminum. Gearcases? Steel or aluminum. Body, frame, etc, steel or aluminum. In fact, about 86% of a car can be recycled [recyclenation.com].

Meanwhile your EV will still have a fully and readily recyclable frame and body, just like the ICE. The motor will generally be recyclable. The battery? Not really. Generally batteries and battery packs are not really designed for recycling. Most are just thousands of individual cylindrical cells, that themselves are spiral wound multilayer structures. There's no easy way to separate the materials here. An ICE, you literally rip out the engine with heavy equipment and include it in with any other steel or aluminum - the process is astonishingly easy and quick [youtube.com] with heavy equipment.

Meanwhile, the batteries are generally just shredded [ucsusa.org]. The resulting material is called "black mass" and is placed into a bath of caustic chemicals to leech out the *important* elements. In certain cases, that black mass is first incinerated to burn off plastic and epoxies. Yeah that sounds super efficient and environmental to me.

So basically these cars could simply be like you iphone or Guarraty disposable product. Please upgrade and throw your old one in the trash. So much for saving the environment and saving money.

Those who are complaining about their dealer jacking up the prices, use build and buy option. It'll take some time to get car and will cost extra 995 for shipping but you'll get car of your color and design choice and only $1000 over advertised price, which is far less than dealer price.

Some dealers will even match that price if they have in inventory. YMMV.
I custom ordered one on the Chevy website. When one custom orders, the Chevy website requires you to pick a dealer. I searched the reddit BoltEv subreddit for a dealer in the area with positive reviews. It's been over two weeks since I place a request. it shows as "Requested Information" under my profile. The dealer hasn't called me back. I thought that you have to pay like a $100 deposit to secure your order?

This feels like moving the goalposts. First you said code violation, then rolled that back to cheap horrible practice.

Is it a code violation or isn't it?
Yes I was wrong, I forgot about the exception since a NEMA 40 amp receptacle isn't available. I not gonna do some chicken shit thing and edit my original post to hide the fact, even if I get thumbed down to oblivion.

But yeah it is a cheap horrible practice period. The cost difference between a 50a and 40a breaker is practically nothing. The cost between 6/3 and 8/3 wire is what like $1/foot? I've actually done an install with 6/3 UF cable that was actually cheaper that 8/3 Romex. UF is harder to work with, but permitted for indoor use, as it's a better quality cable.

Unless you absolutely don't have the extra panel capacity to support the 10a max load difference, you should be doing a 50a circuit.

Yes if a 32a charger is basically going to be permanently installed, it's fine.

But for probably less that $100 more material wise for most installs, or a measly few bucks if you install next to/behind the panel), you can future proof the outlet to support 25% faster charging with another EVSE, and the outlet can support ALL 14-50 applications.

But hey this is Slickdeals, if you want the bare minimum for cheapest cost, so be it. Certain things I'm not gonna cheap out on though: toilet paper and my electrical system.

I just got a new 2023 Bolt EUV a couple of weeks ago. My previous car, a plug-in hybrid, was totaled and I needed something that is eligible for the CAV HOV sticker. As I am in Northern CA, most of the dealers around here wanted 2-5k above MSRP. I checked with some dealers in Southern CA, and a lot of them wanted me to take some useless dealer options worth 2-4k in order to get MSRP.. For example, one dealer wanted to add a $2500 GPS device, when the car already has OnStar. Another wanted to add at least a $1100 Karr alarm, to what alarm the car already has. I ended up going with a small dealership in Central CA that wanted MSRP with only $600 in dealer's options, which kind of evens out with my $500 GM first responder discount. The car had recently arrived at their lot and a deal had fell through with another customer. Unlike other dealers, they did not allow deposit to put a hold on the vehicle. So I immediately jumped on it and took a scenic bus the next day and traveled 5 hours to the dealer. I drove the car 300 miles back home that evening without any issues, making just one stop to DC charge up the vehicle. However, within the next 50 miles of driving the vehicle, I would get a propulsion power reduced warning. The car would not allow me to drive faster than 30 miles per hours, without restarting the vehicle, which could be quite dangerous on the highway. I took it in to a local dealer. Right now they are waiting for parts to fix the issue. I was so excited of getting the Bolt. But so far it has spent as much time at a dealer's service lot for repair than it has in my garage. I've bought 5 cars in the past (Hyundai and Mitsubishi), and never had I once had to take them in for warranty service.

A $7500 tax credit only reduces the cost of the vehicle by about $900 on average. Also, pretty much every dealer has this thing marked up to $30K+.

Exactly! Tesla model 3's are super rare and that's causing them to appreciate. Also, the sun rises in the north and sets in the east.

The Bolt is tiny and none of the dealers around me ever has any in stock. Rather spend $4-$5k more and get a Tesla Model 3.
Alternatively, get a good street legal golf cart if all you need it for is local driving. That will save $10k at least.

Only catch is that car's availability. I had booked this car back in January still my order is not accepted by GM and I was informed by dealer that it might take additional 3-6 months more so total waiting time is around 8-12 months

Regardless of any fine print concerning the tax credit, I was loaned this model from Chevrolet when my truck had to go in for warranty work and had it for 3 weeks. I had zero issues and the Bolt was a joy to drive. It was small, nimble and quick out of the hole. I never realized how nice it was to not ever have to worry about stopping to gas up. The vehicle amenities were nice and the AC worked well. It came with a small "brick" charger that would charge the car at as much as 8amps or as little as 2amps which you selected in the vehicle menu on the infotainment center. I grew to really like the car.

I tried this on the website and all I can get are lease options. I don't want to lease a car. I would want to buy but it doesn't give me any other choice. There is dealer stock available near me but only a choice of lease options show up. Am I missing something?
Unfortunately you can buy car online. Due to the law passed by scumbags in car dealership business, you need to buy cars through the dealers and not the manufacturer. So, you need to price it out online and go to your nearest dealer and have them order it.
