Still worth it? I rarely play Xbox. Tbh feeling like if I don't own the newest game and play often if I pick it up I'm slaughtered by 10 year olds…
This only works for Gold members not for those who already have Game Pass Ultimate (GPU): You do not have to be expired with Gold. but you can't already have GPU active. Whatever time you have left on your Gold membership (1 month or 2 year is no different) just keep adding as much time as you want to have, up to 3 years. After you have added more Gold membership up to 3 years, there is an option when logged into your XBOX account to upgrade your subscription to Game Pass Ultimate for $15. It will convert your full prepaid Gold membership to ultimate and will sign you up for auto-renewal at $15/mo starting on your renewal date. You can later cancel auto-renewal whenever you want. As you are going through that upgrade process it will give you a couple confirmations and you will see when your scheduled expiration date is. It converts your Gold to Game Pass Ultimate at 1:1 ratio and your expiration date stays the same.
My total cost was $18.69 (6 mo gold from CDKEYS.COM) x 6 = $112.14 plus $15 to Microsoft to upgrade to GPU, for total of $127.14.
Each 6 month Gold is actually two 3 month codes. I already had a month left of Gold so I couldn't add the last 3 months as it would put me past 36 months. All done I now have 34 months of Game Pass Ultimate until April 2026, which divided per month is $3.73 for the GPU, plus the last unused code for additional 3 months of unused Gold left over.
If I was really thinking I would have bought 5x 6months gold and then 1x 3 months gold. The 3 month price is same per month and I wouldn't have 3 months unused credit (which only cost $9 so not end of the world, I'll find someone to gift it to)
If you already have GPU and add Gold credit then it converts at a much lower rate. Reading from others who already have GPU, you can do the conversion again but you have to either expire or cancel your GPU first. Once your account is back to Gold only status, you can refill prepaid Gold time and then convert back to GPU again.
