How would this compare to the Arc? I am looking for a soundbar for a small - 12x10 feet room. Thanks

Beam is ideal for the room size you have. Arc might get you a notice from your neighbors.

I take it this is a 2.0 bar. Not a bad entry price to get into the the Sonos ecosystem.
Thought about it for a second, but then looked into how much it would eventually cost to make a true 5.1 system- $$$EEK!. $600 for the subwoofer alone, on sale.

Replaced a $80 sound bar with it…a slight bit more clarity but the volume is extremely low in comparison.

It's 3.0 but yeah, the sonos ecosystem can get pricey.

Edit: I was wrong. It's 5.0 per specs

The Sonos app just removed the ability to play songs from your phone. There is also no Bluetooth support. Makes it a niche product.

I personally like the sound of the Samsung soundbars more. They are considerably cheaper. The Sonos can calibrate the sound via the app running on an iOS device. If you don't have iOS devices, the Sonos are not the best choice in my opinion. Disclaimer: I have two Sonos Beam's, and 3 Samsung soundbars.

Was looking at a beam/arc for a long time and decided to pull the trigger on a Samsung Q800 instead. $390 for open box excellent for a 5.1 physical atmos bar with a very capable sub is hard to beat.

This deal is fine if you're already in the Sonos ecosystem but otherwise I'd look elsewhere at the price point.

It's actually a 5.0 setup.

the Sonos app sucks!
it can see the files on my phone, but refuses to play them randomly.
app can also see the files on my NAS, but also forces me to select each files to add to a playlist. aint nobody got time to create a playlist from thousands of files. if only there's a way to select a folder and have it randomly play whatever is in the folder...

I had the beam gen 1 and was extremely impressed but have since upgraded to the top end samsung 990b and holy shit what a difference. You can't go wrong with the beam though if you're in a small room. But I have a feeling theyre lowering prices because a new model of arc and beam are coming soon.

Either way if you're looking for a bar of this size I think you should take a look at the bose 600 as it has more speakers and better dolby atmos effects

Was wondering if it was true 3.0 or 5.0. Looked up specs and image on speaker arrangement.
One center tweeter, four elliptical midwoofers (two center, one at 45 degree angle on each side), three passive radiators (one each front left & right, one in back).
Interesting setup- don't know if I would call it a true 5.0 (more 3.0 imo)- surprised it can create such high praised sound with a single tweeter, but it does receive consistently good reviews.

If you are already in, or plan to invest in, the Sonos ecosystem, yes. It's a great price.

For a standalone soundbar, that's debatable. I think there are better sounding options for this price, better sounding and this compact, I don't know...

But the real killer feature of this is seamless integration into Sonos' wireless whole-home audio. I have Sonos speakers in almost every room of my house: living room, kitchen, dining room, master bath, patio, garage, basement, and all guest bedrooms. Having them all connected and able to play independently or together sharing audio in perfect synch from any source is great.
