I have this and I was thinking of buying a second one because I love it so much. I carried a heavy aluminum B&D worm drive. This is much lighter.

Can you return just the saw and keep the 4 batteries? How much does that come out to?

Can you return just the saw kit to keep the 4 batteries? Adding these items gives you 2 things total in your cart:

1. Saw + 2 batteries Kit - $143.26
2. 2 batteries bundle ("free") - $140.74

Can you return just the saw in the first kit or would you be required to return the whole thing?

You can only split it the way it's displayed in your cart; you can't return just the saw.

Run this for me again. Place order. Pick-up at store, but return the extra 2 batteries at customer service? They won't ask why?

When they do ask I just say " I didn't end up needing them".

Tell me I don't need it. I just got a Plunge saw. Which is better, plunge saw or this rear handle?

What work do you do? If you do woodworking or finish work, I would say plunge saw by a mile. If you do construction or just use a circular saw for rough dimensioning, a rear handle saw would be better.
