As a frequent traveler I'll give my opinion, hoping to help you form yours.
IHG points and Hilton points: I view this as a 10% discount, not enough to risk anything, including devaluation. But, I've had Hilton not charge a resort fee when using points, now it can become a 20% discount, depending on where you stay. Do you research well, per hotel, do the math.
Marriott GC: Since I usually pay with my regular CC, this deal is worth it for me, 20% discount, and I stay at Marriott anyway. I'll get $1000 worth. If you normally use the Marriott CC, then you get a little less points for your stay.
Also "The following Marriott Hotel Brands DO NOT accept Marriott GiftCards: Bulgari®, Design Hotels™, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy,
The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club®, The Ritz-Carlton Residences, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection."
Other advice welcome.
The Hyatt points were always the good ones. Guess Hyatt backed out.
The IHG is useless - IHG periodically runs its own $0.005 per point sale so no need to buy into this unless you need it or run into your cap.
Choice can be good if going to Europe but pretty steep

Appreciate the insight! Was looking at the Hilton deal, I've never accumulated enough to book anything with points before. Is it pretty straightforward? When checking the app for a stay I was hoping to book for later this summer it said 50,000 points OR $460.98. Are you forced to pay an additional tax out of pocket? Anything hidden I should expect right before final booking when booking with points? Seems like grabbing the points would be a no brainer for a booking like this

Booking with points is pretty straightforward, yes. But keep an eye on every screen to scan for additional fees, taxes or whatever. Go as far as you can into the booking process before actually booking it to get an idea of the full price. And check the cancellation dates and rules, maybe you can book it, have it and cancel (IN TIME) if you find a better deal. Many properties have different cancellation lead times, be careful.
If there is additional tax it will show, but booking with points should include the tax. (depends on location/hotel (some countries have a local tax)). Again I'd say book it as long as you can cancel and see what each screen says.
Now, the difference you describe in $ and points looks like a pretty good deal. Assuming this is a standard rewards room (which is good, the lower priced points rooms, not the premium) it is a good deal. Don't know which property you are looking at, but I'd say buy the points and book with points.
$460 seems high for 1 night, also check the government rate (I always book that, they only asked for ID once of my >1000 hilton nights.)

Super helpful! Thank you! I did a couple screen progressions with a slider of the 5,700 points I had with Hilton and noticed the tax lessened gradually the more points I used. Eventually found I could buy 45,000 points to get to the 50,000 I needed for the room I wanted at the Homewood Suites and there was no tax or anything at all! just a points transaction. Saved a ton! The room rates were definitely high for the date I needed, there's a concert in town, and a city "fair" that entire weekend as well so the prices were inflated across all the hotels. Nice little workaround to save a pretty penny! Thanks again!

Does this end up being some sort of credit or do you have to choose the resort ahead of time? (Are only certain locations of these resorts included?)
Just looking for insight on how this deal works and if anyone has opinions on if this is a better deal or buying points is. Thanks!

Does Marriot still charge a resort fee for points/free nights?

Does anyone know if the Marriott eGC can be used to pay for any Marriott property around the world? Heading to Spain next month, so if I can use it pay for a prepay reservation on Marriott's website, that would be swell.
