That's a very awesome price on a very awesome guitar. There's one on reverb used for $400 and $100 shipping, one for $495 free shipping, then goes up in to the $500's. New looks like $599 everywhere.

I have one of these in black (Ebony). My professional guitarist friend says mine feels and sounds just like his Gibson version at a fraction of cost.

It definitely matters where an instrument is made.

It's amazing. People care less about where their food comes from than a guitar. Frankly where anything comes from less than a guitar. And we are here talking about purchasing guitars off the internet that we've never played or heard, but deeply concerned where the guitar comes from? Come on folks.

Edit: OK wine. After thinking about it, people do care about the location of wine more than guitars.

This is a GC/MF exclusive. It's not as nice as the inspired by Gibson ones. But.. at this price it's probably worth it over the more expensive models.

I'd guess Indonesia. Or maybe China. My epi 59 Lp is china made and one of the best guitars I've ever touched. Obviously the trolls aren't very smart if they're expecting USA, Japan, or even Korea at this price point.

Guitars are on here all the time. I hope that means Rock is making a comeback soon. Aren't we all sick of hip-hop.

People don't like things made in China because all they make is junk. That's why Apple can barely sell iPhones, iPads, etc. Oh, btw…/s. I have an amazing squier bass made in China. I have schecters, charvels, Jackson's, d'angelicos made in Korea that are awesome. I have PRSs, music man sterling, squiers made in Indonesia. They are all amazing and many seem as good as my mia fenders, though some of the parts may not be as good. Definitely a lot of bang for the buck in these foreign guitars. The correlary is that Mia is not a lot of bang for buck, though they hold their value better.

Not always:
I've been collecting guitars for 30 years. I have Strats MIA, MIM, and MIJ. I have Epiphones made everywhere. I have Gibsons, including high-end Custom Les Pauls, I have Gretsch's, PRS's, and others. Some of the "Not made in the USA's" are excellent guitars. IMHO, the best made guitar I own is probably the Strat MIJ! Best F&F of any guitar I own. Perfect setup, intonation, fretwork, etc. right out of the box. I recently read that a Fender exec and a floor supervisor were heard saying that they better get their "stuff" together because many of the MIM Strats and Teles were now equal to, and sometimes BETTER than the MIA models, and that Mex and USA often swap parts depending on inventory needs. So just for the hell of it I bought another Strat (MIM) because it was on sale for a price I couldn't resist (and I didn't have one that color!). SOME of my MIA's are better, but some are NOT.
Of course it's POSSIBLE that YMMV.

Of course there are exceptions...but generally mia and (these days) mij guitar implys higher quality hardware and better QC.

That's not to say you won't find a jem mii or mic Squier, but would need to go through a whole bunch more than say a mia

Hey! I have that same '59 sitting right next to me in my office laugh out loud Agreed- I've been a guitar nerd for 35 years now and Epiphone has been hitting it out of the park.

My absolute favorite Epi from the last few years has been the Inspired by Gibson J-200 acoustic. It's made in Indonesia and the build quality is mind blowing. I literally didn't even have to set it up- it was perfect out of the box.

That being said, this 335 is a great deal, but I did not like the laquered neck, and the pickups aren't the best. In this price range, you may want to see if that Gretsch Rat Rod is still $499 in another thread. It's a much better instrument and a much better value at the price.
