To avoid confusion, you shouldn't need an active online account to use these gift cards, poster was referring to the vouchers.
You can only buy/use the Nintendo "voucher" offer if you have an active online account (not sure about trial). It's $100 for two vouchers and you get 1 digital copy game for each voucher including the new Zelda game as an option. So if you bought 2 of these GC for $80 you'd get Zelda and one other game for $40 each - no tax (plus the cost of the online membership if you aren't online already).
I used gift cards to pay for both my online membership and vouchers just before Zelda came out. It's a great deal by itself, 20% off with GC makes it even better.

if you don't *need* digital, I grabbed TOK from 'temu' for $35 shipped after coupon last week. It was the HK version, but apparently zero difference from US release... just search temu and apply the best coupon available to you.

actually I can't because it's out of stock now (so the page gets taken down I guess? ) the seller was "Stone International" and you will see they have other Switch hardware listed now, but not the game. I'd just watch to see when/if it comes back in stock. Good luck
