Maldives are on my list of anniversary destinations for DW ... 2 years to plan. Only issue is the flight there is a little brutal... 20 hours minimum. Prices aren't that bad if you can stomach economy for that many hours... $500 per person. Bump it up to first class and you're paying $8k per person minimum.

No hurricanes in the Maldives but no typhoons either because they are the same weather phenomenon. Depending on where they were spawned geographically they are called differently.

i did the maldives deal from Travelzoo last year and it was amazing. The flights there and back are definitely brutal but if you upgrade your seats, it's not bad. Especially if you book the front seats with no one in front of you. That was the best. Walk around and get up whenever you want and so much room for sleeping. worth the extra $400 i spent on it.

Well crap, this has been on my bucket list and these prices are pretty slick. However, if I am flying from CA for an entire day, I want that villa over the water with a private pool.

Villa over the water is worth it but why get in the pool when you can get into the ocean?? Loved jumping into the water from our bills and seeing the fishes
