Lowest price in quite a while but probably not a "run out and buy just to have" price as it's frequently down around 300. The DWS779 gives up the light for the slider (which has pros and cons, bigger cuts but loss of accuracy) for a similar price pretty often so there's that to consider. Adding the XPS light gets pricey though I think the DWS780 (779 with light) was on sale pretty cheap recently all things considered. I home brewed a LED onto my 779 for next to nothing (cut up an old 110 to 12v adaptor I had laying around and used a small T10 flat auto bulb hard wired to it) though.
Cutting wider pieces is the sliding miter's only advantage. The non-slider, on the other hand, usually costs less, weighs less, takes up much less space to use, is easier to store, and cuts more accurately with less slop.

Get the slider if you absolutely need that cut capacity for what it is that you miter, but otherwise there are many good reasons to stick with a good basic saw like the one in this deal.
That'd be all fine and good except for all the slop in the moving pieces.

Really just depends on how big the largest material you want to cut is and how much you value the cut line LED light. If you need to cut something larger than about a 2x6 (on angle) or 2x8 crosscutting flat the sliding (DWS779 is typically the one that goes on sale, so I assume that's the one you're referirng to) will probably be necessary (it can do 2x10 and 2x14), but you sacrifice rigidity as well as add size and weight to get that advantage, and give up the LED cut line unless you step up to the more expensive DWS780. Typically after hack it's the same or less than this or if you need the stand anyway the stand is a good deal, though you can scoop the excellent Rigid M-SUV folding rolling miter stand for 100 or less around the holidays and sometimes other sales. If you're not going to use it a lot and only for small projects you can even do the DWS715 which only bevels one direction for around 200 on sale, but you have to flip directions of material feed every time you want to bevel the opposite way..
