An additional driver that is side firing (small performance upgrade).
I attached a picture for comparison. Top is Q990B rears and Bottom is 9500s. They look more similar in person as that was just the lighting. Physically, the 990B rears have some tapering of flat sides and a raised look to them.
I don't have them in the same room, I just haven't moved the Q800B and 9500s yet after unboxing.

I was able to purchase it for that price as well, have been eying the 990C which went down to $1049 but price difference was too much. Hopefully it is the same front and sub as the 990C without the rears.
Price shows up as this only on the app on mobile. Web shows a different price for me with the same EPP login.

I have the Q910B in my den (about 18x18) and Q990B in my living room (24x24 w/14' ceiling). Night and day difference.
Thanks for the info. Are you saying it's day and night between 910B and 990B with both of them having rears. Looks like the rears that come with the 990 are 4.0.2 whereas the the ones that come with 910 are 2.0.2. Is that what's making a difference in your opinion?
I'm in a similar situation where my room layout doesn't allow ideal rear speaker placement. But your comment is making me rethink the 900C vs 990C. I maybe able make the 990 rears work but not as an elegant permanent solution in the living room.

To be honest, I wasn't even looking at the Q900C since it was too expensive. I was going for the Q800C which is on sale for $525, down from $999. I chatted with their reps who refused to give me an extra 10% discount or promo code so I passed for now. I kept checking back on their mobile app for the price to go down further until I noticed that 1 of their soundbars was marked $900 off and it's the Q900C. I thought it was a price mistake so I jumped on it right away haha

Similar situation here, Was actually tracking the 990C after seeing past deals for the 990B around $800 bucks. Saw this 900C for a huge discount and ordered it. Now, I'm second guessing the decision.

Having rears is not ideal for the living space in my vacation home so I never really considered the 990 ones. I think this 900C is perfect for my case.

I own last year's top-of-the-line Q990B. If this is that system minus the rears and you can manage to get the 9500s (Samsung's "sold separately" rears for certain models) later for $200 or less, then this is a slick deal for sure.
The included rears in the 990B and 990C would be slightly better than the 9500s but not by that much. The more substantial differences for that model are size of main bar, power of sub.
Source: I own a Q990B and a Q800B paired with a set of 9500s rear speakers. The best price of the year last year for the Q990B was $800 EPP (I purchased that deal).

I have been eyeing the Q800B for a while now, even looking at refurbished ones on EBay but after I saw the price drop on this I just couldn't pass it up.

But waiting for 910B/C to come back to this price range
Add it to cart. I just purchased it for that price.
