An additional driver that is side firing (small performance upgrade).

I attached a picture for comparison. Top is Q990B rears and Bottom is 9500s. They look more similar in person as that was just the lighting. Physically, the 990B rears have some tapering of flat sides and a raised look to them.

I don't have them in the same room, I just haven't moved the Q800B and 9500s yet after unboxing.

Any way to get this price without verified EDU or Samsung @ Work email?

I have the 800b with 9500 rears. The 800b soundbar/sub is a great room filling sound.( I can't imagine the 900's being that much better, but I could be wrong) My question is the 9500 rears I can barely hear. Is there a way to raise the volume on those? Is there an on-screen equalizer or adjustment that I can make for rears and the rest of the channels? They're hooked up to my Samsung q90b TV

Yes! I just went through the AAA app and bought it. I signed into and verified myself in my AAA app. Then AAA had me "shop" Samsung. It took me to my Samsung Shop app. I searched HW-Q900C. When it came up it had the $500 price reflected. I added it to my cart and checked out through PayPal.
This also worked for me. I have military discount but it did not give $500 price. Had to sign out and reset both AAA and Samsung Shop app but now works.

I own last year's top-of-the-line Q990B. If this is that system minus the rears and you can manage to get the 9500s (Samsung's "sold separately" rears for certain models) later for $200 or less, then this is a slick deal for sure.

The included rears in the 990B and 990C would be slightly better than the 9500s but not by that much. The more substantial differences for that model are size of main bar, power of sub.

Source: I own a Q990B and a Q800B paired with a set of 9500s rear speakers. The best price of the year last year for the Q990B was $800 EPP (I purchased that deal).
i missed that one , but my friend bought it , i didn't looka myself in the mirror for 1 month

I was thinking to buy 2 Apple HomePod to add to my Apple TV 4K 3rd gen but this is tempting. Any comparison or suggestions? TV RU8000 only has ARC.
I ordered and thinking whether to try it out or cancel it. Return policy is flexible so maybe.

Yes. You can adjust volume level for EACH speaker individualy in two ways: using the soundbar remote and following the instructions in the user manual OR install Samsung's SmartThings app and control everything related to the soundbar from within the app.
Personally, I prefer the app forthe ease of use.

There are few equilizer presets which can be set using any of the above two methods.

Keep in mind that the "Standard" sound mode (don't confuse sound modes with equilizer presets) will not upscale your source which means if you are playing a stereo audio, the side, rear and atmos speakers will not produce any sound.

For anyone with this (or the 990c), do I need a separate Chromecast device to use that feature or is it built into the bar? Mine delivers tomorrow and I want to be ready to set it up. Thanks

Cool, my order is shipping and I got the rear speakers at Best Buy for $130 after tax. Great deal! Close enough to the $800 price of the 990b that one time and it never came back.

Delivered yesterday and picked up the 9500S for 120 at best buy as well. Set it up yesterday and this thing is a beast. Watched John Wick 4 in 4k HDR w/Atmos, used Space Fitting, and turned up the rear volume a bit. Overall for the price this thing is pretty great. Had a previous promo code, 10% CB, and $50+ Samsung points to put towards the $500 price, bringing my total for that down to $376 after taxes. The 9500s came to 130 minus $5 GC I had. Total cost came to $500 for a decent soundbar system 9.1.4 overall. It's virtual and can never compare to a real AVR but to unexperienced and untainted ears by AVR, this is fantastic.

I actually have a Q990C as well, and while that definitely sounds better and the base is deeper, louder, and overall the additional 2 channels side firing for the rears does make a difference, the disparity is nearly negligible.

Just don't expect AVR quality surround and atmos experience, and appreciate it for what it is, virtualize high sound and spatial manipulation to achieve something good for what it is and you'll enjoy it.

So other than the rears, this 900C speaker bar is different from the 990C speaker bar?
