Costco has a similar model. I don't remember how much it costs, but if you get it from Costco you get the Costco return whenever if the thing ever breaks. Also you get some drink mugs as part of the bundle.

I think it's a lot easier decision than that. Merely ask yourself, "Am I willing to pay a couple hundred dollars more if it means I'll get a better performing blender for the next 30-50 years?"

If the answer is, "Yes." Then it's an easy decision. An Oster or Ninja simply doesn't make a smoothie as well as a Vitamix, especially when it comes to having the speed to cut things like small seeds in a smoothie.
