I experimented last week with 30% vinegar, salt, and soap to get rid of weeds and had tremendous results. As good as when I used purpose built weed killer. Safer for pets an humans.

I drink and bathe from the ground water below my house and I'd very much like to not slow poison myself.

It "works"
but they come back quickly.

This is pretty much same cost as vinegar mix with a bit better results
(especially when you figure multiple applications).

Protect desirable plants with a piece of plastic or cardboard if desirable plants are accidentally sprayed wash with water immediately. Do not mow cut or otherwise disturb treated vegetation for at least 7 days following application. Do not use on or around edible feed or food crops.
