Official Creality Laser Engraver CR Falcon SE - 24W Engraving Cutting Machine 10W Output – 0.12 * 0.06mm Compressed Spot Engraving – DIY Laser Marking Etching $249.99

Size: 10W

  • CREALITY LASER ENGRAVER SPECS: Wattage: 10W Laser Engraving Area: 300*300mm (11.81" x 11.81") Engraving Depth: 0-3mm (depends on the material) Cutting Thickness: 0-5mm (depends on the material) Spot Size: 0.1mm
This is not a bad deal at all for a complete setup with a 10W laser diode module. The module/controller kit to attach to a 3D printer is $209 itself. So, this setup gets you the whole setup just for laser cutting/etching.

Just to clarify, this is a standalone laser engraver right? Don't need the 3D printer as well? and is this recommended? I've seen previous brands here people have had mixed reviews on. Can this cut like some engravers do as well?

Yes this is a standalone laser that will engrave, etch, cut. I have the bigger version (regular falcon, not se). Unit works pretty good with lightburn. Make sure to update the firmware though.

Awesome! Might just pull the trigger on this then. I was hesitant to pull the last few deals posted cause the brands had steep discounts or were refurbished or only had lower lasers. Have you like the results of yours?

Yes I love it so far, be aware though that the fumes can be strong, I have mine setup in a garage just because I don't have a fume extractor.

What's the differences between the two models?
Looks like material size and laser spot size?

I've been shopping around for a few months and settled on waiting for a sale on the Falcon 10W (non SE apparently) instead of getting the add on module for the printer.

Only difference is just the work area, the aluminum extrusions on the regular falcon is a little over 100mm longer. Everything else is the same, I had the falcon SE and returned it when I found a sale on the regular falcon for $320 from the creality store website.

Sounds like I'll keep waiting then, I definitely want the larger working area.
Gives me time to save up to buy the air assist at the same time as well.

Store dot creality dot com have a combo sale of the 10w laser unit with air assist, smaller honeycomb table and leg raisers for 439. Decent deal but it might get cheaper now with father's day coming up.

I see, the combo isn't listed on the product page, it's its own listing.
Seems like a decent enough deal since the AA is like what 80 bucks alone?

Yes it's decent, I'd rather pay 400 for just the falcon and air assist, accessories not really worth $60 since the leg risers could be just 3d printed and the honeycomb table is only 300x300mm

The benefit is two fold.
The air assist blows away the smoke and debris from the laser, which results in cleaner looking cuts (no smoke residue turning the wood orange).
Additionally, not having smoke in the path of the laser makes for cleaner, deeper cuts.

Oof yeah would like cleaner cuts, is it something I can find and add on later? Or have to buy the model with it?

It's an add on that you can buy later.
It's essentially an aquarium air pump and a nozzle that goes on your engraver.
You can look up "-your engraver name- air assist" and find kits online.

The air assist blows away the smoke, make engravings on wood look better. You also want a honeycomb bed, a smoke purifier and an enclosure for an engraver like that. Don't underestimate the amount of smoke that it produces. Also a rotary roller is nice to have for engraving tumblers and other round objects.
