Did you read the article? It does not mention anything about the 1TB models. Based on over 42K reviews on Amazon it has a composite rating of 4.7.

Go ahead and trust it. The same tech is inside. I'm not touching this with a ten-foot pole when much more reliable Samsung is available across the entire external SSD product line.

SanDisk is also largely washing its hands of the issue.

The article also said "We can't help but notice that there are some hefty discounts on SanDisk Extreme / Pro SSDs on Amazon right now." Coincidence? "However, until the above mess gets sorted out to everyone's satisfaction, buyers should stay clear." Of all of them.

I've been using two(2) Sandisk NVME Extreme Portable 1TB Solid State Drives, purchased last August at Costco for alternating daily backups without a hitch. I'd buy another one, if I was in the market. As I recall, I paid around $100 from Costco.

Sandisk is playing the fake review game on a huge scale...

Amazon has removed more than 84,000 fake reviews: https://www.fakespot.com/product/...1-1t00-g25

45% of current reviews are fake (reviewers with previously-deleted reviews): https://reviewmeta.com/amazon/B08GTYFC37

I suppose you would make the same contention about the nearly 1300 reviews on Best Buy's website with 4.8 stars? (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sand...rc=aw.ds)?

If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

Many were given free product...

FYI: SanDisk has already posted firmware updates on their official site, and the 1TB model is not appliable (the firmware checker shows only 2TB and 4TB models need to be updated).

Which seems to be about the right price considering 2 TB version has been selling for around $120-$130.
