Streaming has ruined movies. These platforms underpriced their product for years to shift everyone to streaming from physical. Now the price hikes are out of control for content that is the old "Direct-to-Video/VHS/DVD" model. Everyone knew those movies were subpar, and now it's becoming the norm content.

Not to mention as physical disappears, "your" library is at the mercy of the platform. People complain Star Wars has been post-edited many times over altering the originals. Han vs. Greedo. It's very troubling what an all-streaming world means—censorship of movies. There's no copy to say otherwise. And then Disney and HBO and Netflix are purging their libraries to save money not paying royalties/license fees. So there are simply movies no one will ever be able to see again.

I'll keep renting from Redbox and purchase physical movies for my collection, and enjoying the superior picture and sound quality. Enjoy the $50 Netflix sub.

I'm convinced all these digital movies people are buying to "own" will have their libraries purged. Those servers cost money to maintain, and will go the way of physical ownership. These companies aren't going to host indefinitely for free your movies you bought years ago. They'll shift you over to their streaming platforms. You'll be renting all of your entertainment each month. Paywalled like crazy. You'll need 5 subscriptions to watch the movies you used to just own, or rent for $1 from Redbox/Blockbuster.

Streaming: the biggest con in entertainment that people blindly embraced.

Seems like just 3 weeks ago the stars from Dungeons and Dragons, Renfield and the Fast furious were all over TV promoting their movies.

Now they're available on home video already? These studios are shooting themselves in the foot.

Edit- Nevermind. I just tried to watch D&D. I understand why it's on Redbox already.

I remember 10+ years ago that anytime you used Redbox with a new debit / credit card for the first time you could get a free rental. I miss that freebie every time there's a fraudulent charge on my account and my bank mails me a new card. #memories
