It doesn't show it as a sale price, but the listed price for the JuiceBox evse on Costco is now $530 instead of their recent price of $600.

It's still not the lowest they've had it ($500) but the it's lowest it's been in quite a while. In early March they had it on sale for $550.

I'm surprised these have not come down in price.

Tesla manages to sell 48amp wall connector for $425, and a 32amp mobile connector for $225 regular prices

Why do other brands cost so much more than equivalent Tesla versions ? Is there some extra features or materials these have?

Economies of scale?

With Ford and GM agreeing to Tesla's NACS standard going forward, these things should be dirt cheap.

This specific brand has a deal with certain states or power companies. I get about a cent back for each kwh I charge. It's still not really worth it for the money back alone. But it also qualified for a $500 rebate, the rebate doesn't apply to any chargers over 32amp for my utility

One possible reason is that Tesla wall chargers are hard wired. They don't use the nema standard. Another one is the mobile charger is a dumb charger. It doesn't have any of the functionality of a smart charger.

If you are a Georgia Power customer, this charger is $349.

The ChargePoint 50A is only $449 (OOS right now) and would be more future proof for the higher charging capacities (e.g. Chevrolet Bolt can charge at 48 A). However, the 50A charger will require a lower gauge wire and larger amperage breaker but worth the investment IMO.

They priced it with rebates in mind.

You can get a nema 14-50 pigtail from homedepot for around $20 and wire it for the outlet. I did that with my v3 wall charger. Working great for years. Just set the charger to 40a max.

Tesla used to sell a 14-50 wall charger (I had one) but I guess they didn't sell as much so they were discontinued. My 14-50 wall charger died (overheating) and Tesla couldn't offer me another one as replacement, hence the v3 that I added pigtail to.

Does not change that if someone with an EV (except for Tesla) will need a J1772 charger. These will be around for quite a while, and even if/when the new standard becomes NACS a cheap adapter keeps these working.

Does Costco's generous return policy apply for this wall charger?

Don't get this. It used to be the best charger on the market. Late last year they upgraded the software and the app, and it totally bricked it. There are tons of threads on Reddit about it. Look at the reviews on apple and Google play stores about the app. I finally got it working, but it took months to reliably charge. Even then, I came out this morning to find it hadn't charged last night. No clue why, because I literally can't open the app anymore. We have two different EVs, and both have same problems

They are qualified smart chargers that electric companies at least in NJ gives back credits and rate discounts for using it

Don't get this because you will have to buy another one. Chevy/Ford just announced they are adopting Tesla charger.

This is still universal standard. You just use an adapter for Tesla. Never been an issue

It was the universal standard. GM/Ford/Tesla make up like 90% of the EV market. An adapter is not going to be 100% efficient, so you will be wasting power. It will cost you more over time to have a charger without the correct plug.
