As a parent of an almost 2 year old, it seems like these are made so much more cheaply these days then when I was growing up. You really need to forcefully press the crayon to the paper to actually use it. I don't remember having to do that as a kid.

Are you buying Crayola brand? I color a lot with my four year old and I love the Crayola crayons. We have a big tub with literally thousands of crayons that we have acquired through purchasing, restaurants, whatever and the Crayola crayons are consistently above and beyond the best ones. I don't find them hard to use at all.

Stores don't care. That's why Christmas stuff starts selling in September. But also, daycare's are year-round and my daughters daycare is doing a supplies round up right now.

What are you saying kids can't color in the summer.I think it's just as good for them in the summer as well it keeps them occupied.

Depends where you live. I think in a lot of the southern US summer break from school is almost half over. But in some schools in the north, summer break hasn't even started yet.

Turns out this is a big country with all sorts of different school schedules 😉

Rose art is fine for home but PLEASE use crayola for school. Teachers hate the generic markers and crayons.
