No, it's BYOP. if you don't have an unlocked phone that you want to bring I'd recommend getting it on one of their heavily discounted phones. you'll probably save more money on that than the $30 you save on the service. Also you have more of a guarantee that it'll work with their service properly. I brought a phone that had no issues on red pocket but couldn't send MMS on Boost. I ended up having to buy a phone for boost.

Would this be good for unlocking the iPhone 12 purchased from Boost Mobile online? It looks like for BYOP but would they recognize Boost iPhone 12 as BYOP or their own Boost phone so the 3 months can be counted into their 12-month unlocking policy?

Use privacy.com (or their app) to generate a one-time use virtual card number if you don't want them to be able to charge you again.

Alternatively I found the same deal at Target last week. Sim kit with 3 months service $15 and they get none of your info. I haven't activated yet though so I don't know if they'll require anything at that point.

The post title is misleading: it's $15 for 3 months.

The cards from Target are TMobile, it's kind of hit or miss if you order online if they send you AT&T or TMobile.. supposedly depends on your location. So if you order online you may get an AT&T sim.

This is a really good deal if you use the Boost One app to earn credits. I got this back in November, haven't paid anything since.

Read all about Boost's dysfunctional system before porting your number to them.
I decided to give them a try but the coverage wasn't consistent so I had to call 5 times and spend more than 2 hours just to get my account and pin to port out.

Their system doesn't give customers a way to get port out info or to cancel auto pay which you will be automatically enrolled in. Boost obviously trying desperately to keep customers so they will try anything to ignore any request that could lead to port out or not paying for the next bill.

My advice is to try their service before hand and only port in after that.

It automatically changes the price to the normal $15 for 5gb per month... It is billed in 3 month installments though so your bill after 3 months will be around $47 including tax (varies by location) for the next 3 months
