I've held the Ray-Bans in-store at Nordstrom Rack. Quality is very meh--lots of flimsy plastic/acetate and thin metal.

Modern, (Luxottica made) Ray-Bans are not high-quality products in general. I wouldn't be surprised if people mistook authentic Ray-Bans for fakes because of poor quality.
