Lenovo sent out a mass email acknowledging the mistake and issuing refunds - FYI.

Watch out, I purchased this laptop and they charged my CC and extra $70 for 1-year of support that I never agreed to. I had to argue over this charge with 3 CS reps and never got the charge refunded. I returned it out of disgust.

Yeah, it's a shame this new gen is so much better, but then they took away the 500nits display from the default QHD 16inch screen. I purchased this laptop and returned it - Brightness was lacking for sure. I purchased a "Build your own" with the 500nits and 32GB of RAM for $1505 with 5% off student discount. On top of that, I used one of those deal sites and got 12% cashback.. The only bummer is it was delayed 5 weeks.. I bought it on May 22nd, and it won't be here till June 30th..

Now as for their support, I've had decent success talking with them on several purchases and returns. I have also delt with Dell support, and it was a lot harder to get any response and real person. Lenovo chat support was pretty helpful.

Before considering purchase, do research regarding laptop GPU vs desktop GPU performance. Don't get suckered by the GPU model number. There's a considerable difference in performance.

I mean as far as laptop GPUs go, legion pro has some of the best since afaik they are fully powered.

I doubt anyone shopping for this is shopping it against desktops.

True that. Legion is often much better in terms of cooling and deliver the best performance than other laptops.

People is disappointed with Nivida on the 40xx low-mid range card release in general though.

Excellent deal -- with the sign-up bonus code for lenovo rewards I got another 50$ off. Plus around 30$ cashback and 44$ in lenovo rewards (first time customer). Been looking for a laptop last 2-3 weeks. I think all the bad rep 4070 gets helped TBH, this is priced like a 4060, and the intel is definitely not worth another 200$.

The 300 nits almost held me back, but realized I never used my previous laptop over 30-40% brightness. Hard not to feel fomo but def. do not need to pay another 100$+ for a feature I can live without.

Except for +1 for notes about awful service experience, where are all people screaming about CCP and buying Chinese from the Volvo thread?

p.s. Marvelous CPU, great price. I wish there was a laptop like this but with open-source/unlocked BIOS/EFI to run an OS without adware that hijacks HTTPS connections (I still remember Superfish [arstechnica.com])

I'd really like a 7845HX with a 4090. Medium-High end CPU with high end GPU.

Hard to tell.... but with recent information about the series x being locked to 30 fps. The series x has something akin to a 2080 super which is roughly equal to a 3070 (notebook). Apparently laptop 4070 isn't much better than a laptop 3070 judging by "tech influencer" reviews which mention single digit % gains.

Maybe you'll get locked 60fps with a combination of medium/low settings? I'd say wait till it comes out and then purchase something. Laptop deals are dime a dozen all year round anyway.

Side note - the 7745hx is an impressive cpu going up and up with the desktop competitors so it won't be holding you back.

Looking at comparisons between the 3070 etc and the 4070 etc it looks like there isn't even single digit gains as far as gaming goes. It just depends what you are doing or what game you are playing they seem to go back and forth on which is even in the lead. The main thing I noticed on the comparisons is that the 4070 is frequently using 50-60% less power than the 3070 to get the same performance so that's pretty impressive. If you're plugged into a wall that's irrelevant but if you're talking actual mobile usage that is a huge improvement.

Thank you for the answer.

Though might have to wait or look for another as it might not have USB 4, not that big of a deal, but would definitely like to have that particular option available.

So the original post says that this: "Includes 1-Year Legion Ultimate Support" but I don't see that reflected in my Lenovo account, it just says I have the basic one year warranty. Does anyone know how to get that?
