2TB is down to $62. This should be around $124 maybe a couple bucks more for a performance SSD not almost 2X the price. Samsung please stop ripping people off.
You know of a new 2TB 870 EVO for $62? Please, share a link.

I have a feeling your 2.5" SSD is not going to be an apples-to-apples comparison, and yes, it has to be a 2.5" because these are primarily for systems that either do not have a free NVMe slot or they never had one to begin with.

By the way, the comp seem to be the Crucial MX. Which be mo betta?
By stats alone? The Samsung.

The MX500 was just barely rated below the 860 EVO, and the 870 EVO preforms slightly better than the 860 EVO.

That being said, they're all pretty much neck and neck because the SATA data transfer cap is limiting the speed.

The MX500 tends to be cheaper, but it also has lower TBW. Would you reach it? Probably not. That would require ~90GB of data written every day for 5 years of I remember correctly.

Both are great. Both have had issues in the past:

1) MX500 - bad firmware causing false elevated write reporting

2) 870 EVO - some data corruption

I think both of these issues have been resolved, but don't quote me. Also, note that the 4TB version of the MX500 had it's DRAM reduced. The other capacities still have their original DRAM amounts I believe.

SATA is a piece of ancient technology, best I can do is tree fiddy.
So is the internal combustion engine, but they're still pretty popular too.

The 870 EVO is probably a hair better on paper but you'd likely never notice. The 870 EVO has had some reliability issues, which may or may not have been resolved.

Thanks to all the OGs. Y'all know your stuff. Seems like a tossup. So price be the driver. I've never had any trouble with Samsung drives. Crucial is reliable but I have only purhchased thier memory. What is false elevated write reporting?
