If you're looking for something to put in a Steam Deck, I'd say skip this one and go for the 512GB Samsung EVO Select that's only $8-10 more right now at Samsung's website or Amazon. The write speeds on the SanDisk Ultra are not nearly as good in comparison.

A full breakdown:

SanDisk Ultra
* 400GB | $30 | 90 MB/s read, 30 MB/s write

Samsung Evo Select
* 512MB | $38-40 | 90 MB/s read, 74 MB/s write

+44 MB/s write and +112GB of storage is definitely worth the extra $10-ish.

The lottery of possibly getting a fake card from third-party Amazon sellers that co-mingle inventories with Amazon is not worth it for me.

I think you will be waiting a while longer. You can barely get 256 on sale for that price.

Looking at the pricing curve, I am waiting for the $20 mark before too long.

Will this do fine with steam deck or the ally as game installation storage? Or are ssd's a better option?

Willing to take the chance since I test all memory cards, flash drives with software that tells of true capacity, r/w speeds, bad blocks, etc. If you buy from amazon, you run chance of counterfeit but any place you purchase from could have a bad batch. Better to be aware before return window closes

Does this work well in dash cams or other security cams where there is a lot of writing and overwriting?

not that much of a risk when you can test it... and send it back for free if it's fake due to fraud...
